Are MOM Miniatures Bringing Their Take On Edge of Tomorrow?
April 24, 2016 by dracs
MOM Miniatures recently teased us with new sculpts of scifi armour clad warriors. But could these be their adaptation of Edge of Tomorrow?
Edge of Tomorrow was a 2014 scifi movie starring Tom Cruise, about humanity fighting off the alien Mimics with the use of their highly advanced mech suits. Throw in a healthy dose of time travel paradox and you have a pretty decent film.
Actually, it's probably closer to say that these might be based upon All You Need Is Kill, the much better named Japanese book that Edge of Tomorrow was originally based upon. The reason I think this is due to the cleaver wielding heroine leading the troopers.
I believe this to be Rita Vrataski, the secondary character of All You Need Is Kill and heroine of the human forces, giving the affectionate sobriquet of Full Metal Bitch.
If these models are intended to be the soldiers of the United Army from All You Need is Kill, then MOM Miniatures have gone for a far bulkier, power armour style for their exoskeletons, as opposed to the more servo like set up we saw in Edge of Tomorrow.
MOM have said that this project will most likely be appearing next year. I hope it is based upon All You Need Is Kill, as that has plenty of stuff to draw upon for the tabletop and I look forward to seeing what they come up with for the Mimics.
What do you think of MOM Miniatures take on the Full Metal Bitch?

I think these look pretty cool! The knife is a bit too asian styled for my liking but I guess that can be converted away. Nice minis.
If I remember correctly from the book, the knife is a salvaged helicopter blade that was reworked. That might explain the look. Of course the book was written by a Japanese writer so that might influence the look too.
It’s a giant cleaver. There’s nothing especially Asian about that.
A female mini, fully armoured and looking like she genuinely could kick arse.
Big thumbs up.
Great looking range, i will keep an eye on these.
Rita Vrataski carried a cleaver of some kind in the film as well.
It was a helicopter rota blade, but would have achieved the same end result ☺
I’m still on the fence with these, but I guess I’m more of a near future sci-fi type… at least they don’t have bell bottoms :-).
I can see a little of a couple of things in these .. appleseed, oni corp shoulder pads and even the helmets somewhat, space marines, starcraft marine guns. Really like these grunts alot, not too sure about the character though. The sword is not looking right..
Those look really good.
All You Need Is…. this mini! Very cool. Buy. Paint. Repeat.
If it is indeed Rita and MOM do not use this line in their advertising I will be sorely disappointed.
Yeah that would be a missed opportunity.
And I would love to get a model of Rita she is a cool/insperational character and thank god she wears the same armour as the rest of her squad. My one pointer would bee that she should be painted RED her signature expect for the axe made out a decommissioned fighter wing.^^
Nice! Definitely one to try and get for the Believable Female Miniatures collection!
