Modiphius’ Conan RPG Rulebook & Adventures Now Available
February 1, 2017 by brennon
Modiphius has now released both the Conan RPG Rulebook and Jeweled Thrones Of The Earth to buy in PDF format over on their webstore so you can begin adventuring in Robert E Howard's world.
So what's inside the main rulebook?
- Complete 2d20 game system, including combat, skills, talents, sorcery, and equipment suitable for adventuring in the age before history.
- An extensive gazetteer covering the whole of Conan’s world: featuring fair Aquilonia, gloomy Cimmeria, magic-haunted Stygia, all the way to the far-off steaming jungles of Khitai.
- Extensive guidelines for running scenarios and campaigns in the Hyborian Age, allowing gamemasters to create suitably Howardian adventures.
- Fearsome foes, ranging from bandits to sorcerers, apes to giant serpents, Children of Set to frost giants, forest devils, and characters of renown such as Conan or his most deadly foe, Thoth-Amon.
- Art a team of iconic Conan artists, including Tim Truman, Simon Bisley, Esteban Sanjulian, Maroto, Mark Schultz, Tomás Giorello, and more.
- Developed in close consultation with award-winning Conan scholars, this is the most authentic depiction of Conan and his world ever published for games.
Having played through the demo adventure for this game they did a great job of making the game world feel like that of Conan. It was brutal and dangerous! If you've picked up Monolith's Conan then you also have some miniatures you could use for your games too now.
If you're just starting out you might want some adventures to play through and that's where Jeweled Thrones Of The Earth comes in.
Inside this set, you get a series of adventures, pre-made and ready to be run during your game night.
- Explore a lost city in the steaming jungles of the south and dare to face the Feathered Ape, as well as other menaces in Devils Among Green Stars.
- Sail across the eons to an island enthralled by a demon-goddess, and attempt to escape the hand of fate in The Pact of Xiabalba.
- Seek unimaginable wealth within The Caves of the Dero, whose denizens harbor a terrifying secret.
- Defend the frontier against an attack by Picts, spurred to war by an ancient evil known only as The Ghost of Thunder River.
- Discover the secrets of a sinister thief-cult hidden within the heart of a city, watched over by The Thousand Eyes of Aumag-Bel.
- Fight slavers in a desperate battle to win freedom and escape the horrors of The Red Pit.
- Uncover a degenerate race lost to the desert and time, in The Seethers in the Sand.
- Guidelines for linking these adventures together into complete campaigns.
- Scattered Jewels… a dozen exciting adventure seeds to help spur further exploits.
I like the sound of all of those adventures! I like the idea of working a Conan campaign in episodes where you tell different stories each time you play, filling in the gaps between the time it takes for the heroes to travel with interesting choice based decision making.
It could make for an interesting format and allow players to drop in and out too.
Will you be fighting alongside the Barbarian?

love the art work is it Boris?
Cover art by ‘Brom’ according to the credits.
Interior art is a mix of comic book art and art in similar style to the cover.
The books really ooze atmosphere.
Can’t wait to have them in hard copy.
nice one thanks.
Core book cover is Brom.
like Ben said hopefully people will want to expand their adventures from the board game with this. modiphius have been doing good work these last few years and there is a lot of content from the kickstarter to support it.
good times for conan fans
If you buy the deluxe version of the new Conan Exiles computer game (warning it’s NSFW) you get the PDF version of these books plus a whole mess of digital Conan comics and some other stuff. Not sure but I think it works out cheaper than buying the PDFs direct (that’s only counting the additional cost of the deluxe edition, not the dase games cost).
