Minuteman Miniatures Launching App To Make YOU The Hero
May 4, 2019 by brennon
Minuteman Miniatures is launching an app which is going to be used to turn YOU into a hero on the tabletop. Miniature You looks like it could be a lot of fun!
The app runs on a smartphone and takes a digital scan of your face before then uploading it to their system. It can then be mapped onto a range of different bodies so that you can suddenly become the hero of the story.
The miniatures that you choose are then 3D printed on demand by the team at Minutemen and shipped to you. This does sound like a very cool idea and the team are actually going to be at UK Games Expo this year talking about the program.
As someone who has always thought it would be cool to have your players in a role-playing game actually inhabiting their characters this would be very cool. I could see this going down well for others who want to see if they could survive against the endless hordes of undead in a game like Walking Dead.
The proof is certainly going to be in the pudding and I am interested to try out the app to see how the scans turn out.
What do you think of the idea?

Brilliant idea…. now they just need to get it to Android or to work with any old PC and webcam 😉
I give myself a fright every time I look in the mirror so really not sure if I want to see an inch high version of myself starring up at me from the tabletop. Plus every bald dwarf that has ever been sculpted has a passing resemblance to me anyway! 🙂
Looks tempting.
This company is a scam. Many people, myself included, paid them for miniatures which were never delivered. They had a booth at Gen con, and one at PAX Unplugged. Hundreds of people are now out about $30 a mini.
They will not answer any attempt at contact. They will not offer refunds, or provide the models which have already been paid for.
There are numerous complaints with the Better Business Bureau, and there has been talk of a class-action lawsuit.
Avoid these thieves!
My wife and I did this at Gen Con. We recieved our minis just after Christmas. Took much longer than they quoted, but we did get them.
I ordered and paid for one from a con back in June of 2018, I still have not received it. I was told at the time it was a 6 to 8 week turnaround. I’ve emailed several times and was told it was being made that weekend and will be sent out. Then nothing for several weeks. Emailed again, was told it must be lost in shipping, and I requested they send me a tracking number when shipped. Still nothing, so these were all lies. I guess I’m out the $33 I paid for this thing. I did file a… Read more »
