A Mighty Ogre Brings The Hammer Down From Albino Raven
December 23, 2015 by brennon
Albino Raven have showed off their mighty Heavy Ogre with a massive hammer with a special promotional price attached to it. If you're looking for a mighty addition to a Chaos or even Orc army this could be a great new monstrous unit to send swinging into the enemy lines...
I think this sculpt loses a lot in the sense that it's so static in pose. Even if one of the legs was just a little bent and there was maybe a bit of angle to the way the arms are swinging the hammer would have bought a lot more to the sculpt.
In saying that I don't want to do this one down too much as it's actually a rather superb looking piece detail wise and it's just begging to be put in the front line of a regiment about to squish what ever enemy is set before him.
I think this would be a prime candidate for a diorama or vignette piece when used for display purposes. You could have some plucky hero trying to go up against him as the Ogre gets ready for that brutal swing that might turn him into paste.
Scale-wise he stands at 55mm in height but is proportional to other 28mm ranges out there so he wouldn't look out of place in many Fantasy armies.
What do you think?

I’m sure it was based on my mate Dave! Muscle-wise anyway…
Not known for his dashing good looks and dental hygiene, is he? ;P
…not bad! He is massive though!
I like that they chose to do the skin very textured. Makes him look much more evil for some reason.
like the armour would fit in to a LOTR Ork army as well.
Great looking model but I agree the pose feels too static. Almost pulled off an amazing sculpt but just missed the mark a little. Still really nice and would look great in a diorama, an RPG, or tabletop game
Actually, what am I saying, this IS an amazing sculpt, static pose be damned! 😀
Now that’s an ogre! Not some chubby dolt with improbable weapons.
I really, really like that model. He could pass for a very large Orc or Black Orc, or even a big Warlord with a slightly different colour scheme. I’m very impressed. He could make a good rank filler too for rank and file fantasy wargames.
