Mierce’s Darklands Heading Back To Kickstarter
August 14, 2014 by brennon
Mierce Miniatures are heading back to Kickstarter once more to fund their new expansion for the game, New Kindreds. Here are a few of the details on it alongside a few nice painted miniatures from their existing range...
"This project has been mooted for a long while simply because Darklands has ten main kindreds, two of which - the Atalantes and Érainn - have not yet been explored, even though there's lots of interest in them.
You see, in Darklands: a World of War we decided to concentrate on six kindreds (Angelcynn, Brythoniaid, Fomoraic, Khthones, Norse and Ysians) and then added another two kindreds with the Darklands: First Edition project (the Albainn and Byzantii) - which leaves the Atalantes and Érainn rather by the wayside. Now's the time to redress that!"
The Atalantes are the first of the races being covered, based on the Atlantian people of mythology. The Erainn on the other hand are Darkland's Irish warband. The first faction will dive into miniatures dressed like Hoplites with huge bronze constructs while the Erainn will look like barbaric (by comparison) raiders.
Going back to existing miniatures Aalvor and Maallolvór have been given a very nice paint job by Sébastien Picque and they are very nice indeed. It's pretty ace to see some cool shaggy beasts and fur both sculpted well and painted well in return. Are you a big fan of Darklands?
Will you be backing these chaps again?

I’ve seen this range up close and personal at Salute, absolutely amazing minis (with some eye popping price tags to go with!) and the thought of the Atlanteans does tickle the tastebuds… so to speak.
Mierce do a lot (like Mantic and CMON) with Kickstarters so at least you can be confident they know what they’re doing, Dakka Dakka have a high esteem of Mierce even with it’s dubious beginnings.
I’m going all in on this one….will choose the Descendat route to have an Atalantean sellsword mininature in my likeness! Agree quality is superb and price certainly reflects that. But I’m a big believer in you get what you pay for.
Quite pricey, but beautiful mini’s. I hope to pick up one or two one day, particularly from the Norse faction, but one of them is worth the same amount as a box of 32 Vikings from Wargames Factory!
They also make fabulous beastman type figures.
Looks very nice and promising. Is there a rough date for the kickstarter ?
Sep 15th start
I’ve got hundreds of Mierce’s miniatures from their Darklands and Banelegions lines. Awesome stuff – they are some of the best detailed minis in my entire collection (of 5k+ minis). I’ll be all-in on this Kickstarter, at least if they have many monsters/beastmen.
Formoriac appeal to me most, and I hae to say that theseare the very highest in quality imho and they have great customer service too, which means a lot if you ever get a miscast, as they simply send you a replacement really quickly. 🙂 i hope they do another sweetspot lvel like they have done before. I was really sad that I couldnt get in on tne last KS. And it shouldnt be long now until we have the full rules! 😀
