It has been a long time coming but the two new Ent miniatures from Games Workshop and Forge World are going to be going up for pre-order this weekend. You'll be able to snag new miniatures for Treebeard and Quickbeam in 28mm alongside Merry & Pippin for the Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game.

Treebeard - Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game

Treebeard strides into the game first of all with one of the largest plastic kits that Games Workshop have made to date. The miniature comes with a couple of arm options and you can also have Merry & Pipping sitting amongst his branches or on the ground instead.

I think this is a dynamic new version of Treebeard which adds a sense of motion to his pose. I did like the old metal model but this adds a bit more purpose to Treebeard's stride. It does look like the miniature has walked off the screen and is ready to make Saruman pay.

Merry & Pippin - Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game

Merry & Pippin are slightly "bigger" thanks to drinking that Ent-draught but have no fear, they should still work nicely with your collection. With rocks at the ready, they can knock a few Orcs into the raging waters let loose by the Ents. Whilst it's a little further on in the storyline, they could also be used for Boromir's last stand too.

Forge World's Quickbeam

If you're tempted to grow your Ent army and add more characters then you can also pre-order the new Quickbeam miniature this Friday too. Cast in resin, this gives you another of the impressive named Ents that followed Treebeard on his march.

With Treebeard at the head of your army and Quickbeam adding a dose of speed to the occasion, you only need to pick up a few regular Ents to have an excellent themed force.

I really like what Games Workshop and Forge World have done with these sculpts and they look super accurate to their movie counterparts. I think you could have a lot of fun using drybrushing, shading and highlighting techniques to bring them to life whilst also going to town with a few basing materials to build on that natural look.

They Came From The East

The Easterlings, under the dominion of Sauron, are also getting some new miniatures this weekend. A set of Dragon Cult Acolytes are seeking to cut down your valiant heroes and sow discord amongst your army.

It has been a while since we've seen much added for the forces of Evil in the Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game and I hope that this will be the start of a lot more for the Fallen Kingdoms. I like their poses, especially the fellow with the throwing dagger at the ready.

There are plenty of fun new options coming soon for those diving into Middle-earth on the tabletop and let's hope 2021 offers up more new plastic and resin miniatures for collectors.

Are you going to be picking these up?
