Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game Plans For 2024 Revealed
January 26, 2024 by brennon
Games Workshop has started teasing the plans that they have for the Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game in 2024. To kick things off, it should be noted that the game isn't dead and there will be a new supplement coming out later this year!

Before we dive into what that could be, we should look at the Made To Order miniatures that will be coming up soon. A whole host of Rohan miniatures are on the cards including the classic Heroes Of Helm's Deep set. This features some of my favourite miniatures of The Three Hunters and Eowyn.
Additionally, the Defenders Of Helm's Deep is also coming back featuring some iconic miniatures in alternative poses.

Gamling on foot with his banner is great to see alongside that epic version of Theoden. Another great set that will be fun for collectors to add to their horde. Sticking with Rohan, there are also three returning mounted heroes for Rohan that I know will be very popular.

Theoden (Warg Attack) // Middle-earth Strategy Game
The miniatures for Gamling and Theoden are going to be great to see returning, especially in their more unarmoured state. Gamling without the banner is going to be ace to see as I don't always want to have him riding around with the royal standard. Once again, this is a miniature I would love to have back as I love Gamling as a character.
Last but not least, we're also seeing the return of the Rohan Commanders set which was only available in an army set previous to this. I think when these come out, I am going to be rather poor.

It's great to see so many of these returning miniatures coming back on a Made To Order basis and I hope that we get more of these boosts for the range throughout the year. It would be good to maybe get one of these per quarter looking at some of the lost and forgotten corners of the range that people would love to have in their collections. There are a lot of miniatures from the olden days that people are still scrabbling for on eBay!
A Board Game Returns
Quest To Mount Doom is also going to be returning, a board game that was originally only available in select regions.

It will now be available globally offering a way for you to dive into another style of Middle-earth game from Games Workshop. Battle In Balin's Tomb was great fun and Quest To Mount Doom was ok but there are better Middle-earth board games out there on the market. Still, it's nice to see it returning!
A New Supplement For 2024
The last snippet of news was that whilst the team has been quiet, there is going to be a new supplement for the Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game. We will have to wait for more information but they have promised that once it lands, it will have been worth the wait.
I am really hoping that it's going to be The Last Alliance and Second Age supplement that we have been eager for. Justice for Anárion!
Will you be getting stuck into Middle-earth in 2024?

So @brennon mate, friend… have you looked at how much you can get for organs already? Or are you going to rob a bank? 😉
Bit of both…
Right there with you Ben! Last Alliance all the way!
What a nice way of telling everyone this game is not being supported anymore. And no, a “supplement” doesn’t count.
Define “supported”. It’s getting some new content, and some re-releases of things people mostly don’t have. The made-to-order FOMO thing sucks and it’s a shame there aren’t any new models announced, but it’s not nothing.
If you want the game to do well, then doomsaying is the worst thing you can do for it. If you want better support then get people playing it, proselytise and create content related to it.
Having just started a Rohan force, this is excellent news!
Sounds like the kind of support I like. It keeps interest in the game alive, just, and makes models available that folks may want for their collection, while not making demands on my own wallet – I got most of these first time around. I’ll probably be getting the mysterious new supplement whenever its released, but judging by the normal glacial pace of releases for the game, I’m not expecting it until late summer at the very earliest! There’s something nice about the game still using the old models and largely the same rules as they have always used. I… Read more »
