Inspired by the Anglo-Saxon epic poem Beowulf which charts the fortunes of the mighty warrior himself but also the fortunes of the Geats, Swedes and more of the period, this Kickstarter aims to bring together a heroic collection of miniatures that are useful in a variety of wargames.

Starting with the more fantastical side of things, you can get your hands on a Narrative Core Set which features characters and monsters from the Beowulf poem.

You've got Hygelac and Beowulf for example alongside the lordly Hrothgar who's hall becomes fouled by the monstrous Grendel. Talking of Grendel, you have the monster itself alongside Grendel's Mother, both threats that you could throw into a roleplaying game or perhaps a skirmish game where you chart the various encounters that Beowulf has throughout his life. You've also got fairly Wiglaf in the mix, one of Beowulf's stalwart allies.

If you're looking to dive into more wargaming with these miniatures then you might want to pick up the larger Wargaming Core Set. This comes with King Hygelac and Beowulf as before but you also get a lot of Vendel warriors with appropriate arms and armour for the period.

All of the miniatures have been sculpted to match the period using archaeological evidence that has been unearthed as well as paying close attention to the Beowulf poem. That means that you've got a great blending of the two throughout the range which makes them suit both the Historical and Fantasy genre.

There are some great Spearmen, Huscarls and command figures like the Standard Bearer and Musician. All of these miniatures would be excellent for a game like SAGA but would also slot into a variety of other games out there on the market.

You could also make great use of these miniatures in games like the Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game. If you're looking to create an alternative look for your Rohan forces, this could work very well to represent the rank and file as well as characters like Theoden, Eomer and the like.

"But Rohan will need cavalry" I hear you say. Well, if the campaign does well and powers through its Stretch Goals, you could get access to Armoured Horsemen that you could use to ride down your foes.

You've also got Bowmen and Spearmen in the mix as Skirmishers (perfect for Levy in SAGA) and then some ace additional unlocks like the Fallen Warriors and the immense Dragon & King Beowulf which was inspired by the work from J. R. Skelton.

A great team has come together to bring this range to life. Andrew Medbury did the sculpting but you've also got the excellent work from others to really make the range pop. Make sure to dive into the Kickstarter to find out more.

Will you be diving into The Tales Of Beowulf?
