Matthew Bickley’s Epic 28mm Viking Collection Now Available!

Matthew Bickley's awesome range of 28mm Vikings is now available for you to pre-order on the Footsore Miniatures & Games website. If you missed out on the Kickstarter, you can scoop up the excellent selection of heroes and troops for building your Dark Age warbands.

For example, you can get some fantastic leader figures to take control of your warbands in games like SAGA, Conquest for The Barons' War and maybe Midgard Heroic Battles. Use these to represent the likes of Ragnar, Ivar, Ubba, Halfdan, Bjorn, Rollo and Guthrum on the tabletop and tell your tales.

Each of the miniatures is incredibly well-detailed and Bickley has done a superb job of capturing the unique character of each of these individuals. You've got older warriors, young whipper-snappers and plenty of other warriors in between that could lead your raiding parties.

Making up the core of your force will be plenty of infantry which can be picked up in sets of four miniatures. Your Unarmoured Vikings, the Bondi, can make up the majority of your force, drawn from all corners of your kingdom to fight for their Jarl.

Your force will most likely also comprise some of the more well-trained warriors that make up the standing army that your Jarl commands. You can also get your hands on sets of Armoured Vikings in the form of your Hirdmen.

As you can see, they can be outfitted with spears and shields to hold the line. I love that all of the miniatures, even the very "basic" troops, are packed with dynamism and the poses look excellent for those setting up skirmish warbands. They would also be perfect for the front line of ranked-up infantry.

Even the Vikings can't just take on their enemies in close combat. A bit of support can be required so you can also snap up sets of Viking Archers who can cover your advance.

As a massive fan of archers in general, I need these in my life. They look great and once again fit the skirmishing theme of games like Conquest and SAGA as mentioned above. You could see these fellows ranging ahead of your main force, scouting for enemy movements and taking sneaky potshots at the enemy when they are unaware.
