Yes, we're back talking about the Ossiarch Bonereapers again today from Games Workshop. But, this weekend sees the release of pretty much the entire new plastic line-up for this new army in the world of Age Of Sigmar. Leading the way we have Orpheon Katakros himself, a military genius and powerful commander surrounded by his retinue.

Orpheon Katakros - Age Of Sigmar

There are some pretty cool rules in force for this fellow. He has been designed as a battlefield commander, not a warrior who wades in on the front lines. The rules also represent his entourage and instead of getting worse as 'he' takes damage he gets more deadly. As his retainers are killed he deign you worthy to challenge him and then he steps down from his outcrop to battle you in close combat.

I think it would be pretty cool to take the models off and rebase them on separate ones so that you could model the fact that his followers are dying.

Bonecrafting Characters

As well as Orpheon Katakros leading the way he is supported by a range of other characters. There are quite a few to get through so we're going to go with a big ol' list!

I actually think that a lot of the characters have come together very nicely for the Ossiarch Bonereapers. I think the design of them is pretty neat and develops on from a lot of the undead we saw at the end of the Old World and the coming of The End Times. I particularly like the Mortisan Boneshaper who is crafting another warrior to join Nagash's legion as it marches forth across the battlefield.

Crafted Warriors

As well as these leader characters who are marshalling the forces of the undead to fight for Nagash, we've also got the rank and file who are ready to lay down their (un)lives, twisted constructs and warped mockeries of the Stormcast Eternals.

Again, I quite like the way that these warriors have come together. In particular, I like the Mortek Guard, the general rank and file soldiers and the Necropolis Stalkers are also very cool. I think they have a really nice cinematic nature to them and you could imagine them twisting and slicing, moving more fluidly than your typical undead soldiers.

Larger Constructs

We're then moving onto the next level with the constructs that have been brought to life by the Ossiarch Bonereapers. Building more bodies which can then be imbued with souls we have the Gothizzar Harvester.

Gothizzar Harvester - Age Of Sigmar

This hefty fellow is very strange looking. I still think that the proportions here are a bit off but then this is a very odd army, to begin with. The little fellow here is collecting scraps from the battlefield and feeding them into a hopper which can then be brought back to the bonecrafters at the rear of the army.

In a design interview, they talked about some of the storytelling in the miniature where one arm is lifting up a Stormcast Eternal helmet and another is telling it no; that's kind of fun!

Finally, we have this scampering Mortek Crawler.

This is another very strange looking creation which is just...off the wall. I like the crew who are working away on this and the fact that they've tried to go beyond the bounds of design sanity with all of those legs holding it aloft.

As you can see, there is quite a lot to get stuck into with the Ossiarch Bonereapers!
