Marvel Set The Scene For 2015 With Avengers NOW! Trailer
January 1, 2015 by brennon
Marvel have put together a neat trailer showing off the new and entirely tweaked Avengers that will be coming your way alongside a range of different heroes for 2015. Check out the trailer above and the line-up below...
I'm really interested to check out what's going on with the new Thor of course and the changes to Captain America and Superior Iron Man should be fun too. There's also Angela, the Asgardian Assassin that might be fun as well!
This certainly opens up the floor to a lot more coming out of companies like Knight Models and WizKids for their respective lines of miniatures and card game. Marvel heroes tabletop game please Knight!
What do you think?
Well that is interesting line up.
Thora?
Yes it happened less than a year ago and marvel claim he will be she from this point on. Give it oh about two years and she will become he once again.
Angela… Looks a tad like the Angela from the Spawn comics.
“like you’ve never seen them before” and not particularly how you want to either, but we’ve run out of ideas.
Sad but true. Give it a few years all the heroes will come out of the closet, become transgendered or undergo a miraculous change into a minority race.
How would you feel about a new set of characters created by a major comics book name like Marvel or DC some of whom were part of the LGBTQ community (and I don’t mean individual token characters who are paraded around to prove how tolerant the studio is before abruptly being killed off)? Or among whose number there was a greater representation of racial and cultural diversity? Or female characters who weren’t tiresomely sexualised and objectified from day one? By all means leave the established characters alone, but I don’t think it would do the industry any harm at all… Read more »
Oh no I totally agree and I would love to see all of the above, although I worry that if a couple of new characters were launched, they would be nothing more than token guestures by the studios who wouldn’t put the right talent behind those titles.. and when they failed, it would be ‘proof’ that their audience isn’t really interested in anything that deviates from the norm.
Heck, hook me up with one of the artists from the Marvel stables and I reckon I could do a solid job of the last one.
Sadly, i think you are right about that, @sygess – set up a character outside the usual norms of the comic book milieu to fail, and then use that engineered failure as a premise to claim nothing outside that norm will sell, thus obviating the need to make any effort. That is clearly unethical, but even if we ignore the moral arguments and stick to strict, hard-nosed business rationale, if comic books are going to flourish in the long term, that kind of attitude has to change. Why sacrifice large potential markets because a handful of your existing readership can’t… Read more »
If I had the power to hook you up with a Marvel artist to create a superheroine character who doesn’t look like an extra from an adolescent wet dream, then I assure you I would do so in a heartbeat.
She could well be one and the same. I see to recall hearing on Comic Dorks that she exists in both universes thanks to some weird creator rights thing.
So Angela, Assassin of Heaven is now Assassin of Asgard. I wonder when she changed her boss from judochristian God to Odin. Then again Spawn killed both judochristian God and Satan.
So there’s a book titled No More Mutants, huh?
Way to stick it to Fox, Marvel…
Years back there was story line called House of M were end of that Scarlet Witch declared “No more mutants” and after that there were no new mutants.
Meh don’t care for the changes. We will see how well it hide and if they can write good stuff but to much change at one time can be bad.
