Mantic Games To Launch New Dungeon Essentials Line Up
January 2, 2020 by brennon
Whilst Mantic Games has their sights set on getting you tabletop ready for dungeon delves and role-playing games with their Terrain Crate, they are also looking to get you sorted with a range of models. That's where the Dungeon Essentials line comes in.
Drawing from across their spectrum of miniatures, both new and existing, they are going to be making sure you have a host of cool models to use in your dungeon adventures. They are starting off with the Dungeon Dead and Dungeon Creatures sets.
These models have been taken from the selection available to Hellboy players as part of the Wild Hunt and B.P.R.D. Archives expansions, now repackaged and sold as options for those who want to get stuck into some Fantasy fights.
Whilst I was struck by the idea of them just re-using some of their older sculpts, I actually like the idea. The models that Mantic has created for their licenced games have been superb (and one-piece which is key) so seeing them get a new lease of life as classic dungeon fodder really is a great idea. I could see these being a core product to pick up for those playing a lot of the solo and cooperative skirmish games out there too.
More is of course on the way and I can't wait to see what they do!

This is a great idea.
The market has been flooded with these sort of things in the last couple of years… however there is always more room for this sort of thing.
Some Great looking terrain for tables.
I like those… they sure spice up the skelly market
OMG yes. I’d no idea these existed. That witch is someone my Greek myth project has been crying out for and those skellies are just wonderful. Thanks Mantic!
Not long out in retail for hellboy so unless you backed the kickstarter it is easy to miss
Ah gotcha. I left Hellboy alone so these were totally under my plastic crack radar.
Linked article mentions retail version of the second Mantic Terrain Crate.
I guess as long as the miniatures are cheap and good quality, I’m all for it!
No idea of pricing butt the quality is amazing I’ve got a ton of it. So as long as it’s priced reasonably I have no worries about the quality
I need the big bird, the werewolf and his wee mucker, and those bats in my life <3
Nice idea. I could see some of those getting use in Frostgrave and Vanguard for me, if they are priced reasonably.
This is great. They already have the molds for most of the miniatures and no reason to lock up the miniatures just to hell boy. This is a great way to get those miniatures out to other gamers. I would totally use these for D&D, Frostgrave and Rangers of Shadow Deep. A rather have these than buying a game I may not play.
@brennon: the undead are from the “Darkness Calls” expansion, not “The Wild Hunt”. I see even Mantic themselves have made this mistake. The others are from the BPRD archives expansion as it says.
All of the above were included in the KS, the Wild Hunt expansion (with giants and knights) was not part of the KS.
Those undead would make pretty nice Draugr for the Varangur faction in Kings of War (also available from Mantic). Helpful as the Draugr are basically a revamped/tweaked version of the original living Thralls unit and most of the decent Draugr miniatures seem to be either out of stock or discontinued at the moment.
