Magic the Gathering’s Planeswalkers Turned Into Action Figures!
March 20, 2014 by dracs
One of the great things about Magic the Gathering is its background of mighty Planeswalkers doing battle. At this year's Toy Fair, Funko revealed that those epic Planeswalkers are getting turned into action figures.
Funko, whose other action figure ranges include the characters of Game of Thrones, previewed six prototypes of some of the classic card game's most recognisable Planeswalkers, including the iconic Jace Beleren, Ajani Goldmane and Garruk Wildspeaker.
The figures stand at roughly 6" in height and will feature about 20 points of articulation, as well as coming with all the suitable weapons and accessories a Planeswalker needs.
Each of the figures that were showcased at the Toy Fair has a nice level of detail to it, capturing these iconic figures of the game and making the action figures something for collectors to drool over.
If you want to know more about the Planeswalkers of Magic the Gathering, you can find their character bios over at Wizards of the Coast.

Woah! They do Sons of Anarchy dudes too!! Very cool. 🙂
On the subject of the MtG figures- I’m pretty impressed with the quality of them. I’m not a fan of Magic and don’t collect action figures, but comparing them to the LotR ones I had years ago these look to be of a very high quality.
If some of these were available in high quality 28mm though, I might well be tempted. The lion guys especially.
Yes i beats me why wizards have not come out with 28mm minisof not just planewalkers but other creatures based on the card art work.Dragons anyone???
Seems smart to me, too. I’d assume, though, they don’t want to draw any attention away from D&D minis. I don’t see the difference, myself, all the money goes into the same pockets, doesn’t it? … and didn’t they hand off the D&D mini production recently? Hrm.
I believe they did once as a limited release. I think there are some metal sculpts floating around the internet
Don’t be silly Sam, metal doesn’t float!
The noteworthy thing about these action figures, is that Nissa is amongst them.
It was asked on Twitter why they’d picked her out of all the possible planeswalkers, because she hadn’t done anything of note or appeared in a set for ages, and the reply was a basically a “wait and see”.
