January 29, 2024 by brennon
Games Workshop are heading back to The Mortal Realms this weekend with pre-orders for a range of new miniatures for the Flesh-eater Courts of Warhammer Age Of Sigmar. We start with a new book in the Dawnbringers series, The Mad King Rises.

The Mortarch Of Delusion welcomes the Ghyranite prong of the Dawnbringers Crusade to New Summercourt; things look like they will end in bloodshed. Inside the book, you'll find rules for Ushoran plus Sekhar, The Fang Of Nulahmia who works behind the scenes to twist things in her favour. More rules within will cover a new Army of Renown plus more for Path To Glory and the return of the Triumph And Treachery rules.
Ushoran is an awesome miniature and probably one of the best Games Workshop has produced in a while. The detail is immense and it looks like something dragged from the boss battles of Elden Ring.
Ushoran, Mortarch Of Delusion // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar
Despite once being a noble warrior, the bestial nature has since taken over. Whilst Ushoran believes that he is still one of those noble paladins, he now smashes his way through the ranks of his enemies, followed by a slavering army of ghouls.
Manipulating events behind the scenes, you also have Sekhar and her menagerie of horror. You can drop her into your games alongside ten Dire Wolves and three Fell Bats, burying them in a mound of fur and fangs.
Fangs Of The Blood Queen // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar
There are some great new miniatures for the undead factions in Warhammer Age Of Sigmar. You can either throw your lot in with the blood-crazed Flesh-eater Courts or delve deeper into the machinations of the Soulblight Gravelords.
Flesh-eater Courts Range Expanded
Talking of the Flesh-eater Courts, some great new releases are coming up for these maddened warriors. These were miniatures that were previously available as part of an Army Set but now, they'll be available to snap up separately this week as pre-orders.
Grand Justice Gormayne // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar
First up, we have a beacon of law and order. Grand Justice Gormayne passes judgement on those who dare to go against the will of Ushoran. All "criminals" will find themselves hung, drawn, quartered and then promptly eaten no doubt.
Next up, you can call on the chanting of the Abhorrant Cardinal.

Some arcane power has been gifted to these individuals and these clerics now find themselves spreading the good word of Ushoran throughout the realms. The maddening chatter that they come out with can be used to befuddle your enemies and make them easy prey for your regular ghouls.
When you need to make sure that judgement is particularly final, you call on the Royal Decapitator.
Royal Decapitator // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar
As you might have guessed, The Royal Decapitator is there to take the heads off the enemies of Ushoran and throw them into the cooking pot. His emaciated body might not look like it could lift that axe but a wirey strength allows them to cut their way through your enemies with ease.
If you're someone who particularly liked the Strigoi build for your armies in the olden days of the Vampire Counts, this range of releases will most likey gel with you. That vibe continues with the likes of the Varghulf Courtier.
Varghulf Courtier // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar
Once vampires in the service of Ushoran, they have let their bestial nature get the better of them. They see themselves as mighty champions who come to the battlefield in time of need. In reality, they are gangly limbs and hooked claws, feasting on the bodies of the slain before slinking back into the dark corners of ruined castles.
The last of the characters is the Marrowscroll Heralds.

Despite how mad, bad and dangerous to know the Flesh-eater Courts are, they still engage in a twisted style of diplomacy. The Marrowscroll Heralds are the ones who engage in that as envoys between different kingdoms. They even head out into the lands of other peoples to spread the good word which often means causing mayhem and sowing horror wherever they go.
The core of your Flesh-eater Courts army can also benefit from some new troops. Perhaps you'll find yourself calling on the Cryptguard?
Cryptguard // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar
These are your sworn bodyguards and richly adorned knights who fight alongside your various slavering lords. They believe themselves to be clad in the finest armour, wielding the deadliest blades but they are nothing more than deluded horrors. That doesn't stop them being a cut above the regular ghoul though, able to hold their own in the front lines.
Sticking with the idea of valiant knights, charging into battle, you also have the Morbheg Knights.
Morbheg Knights // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar
Thinking themselves to be valiant warriors, charging into battle atop winged steeds, they are devoted knights in service of Ushoran and other lordly figures. They richly adorn their steeds and armour with trophies from past victories turning them into a terrifying display of their gore-maddened strength. The set allows you to make regular Morbheg Knights as well as the Command options that you see above.
All of the new rules for the Flesh-eater Courts can be found within their new Battletome.

You'll find all of the updates that you'd expect in a new Battletome including the new Warscrolls for your units and more information on delving into Path To Glory with your new army of twisted fiends. For the most avid Flesh-eater Courts fans, you can also get a set of thematic dice.
Flesh-eater Courts Dice // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar
All of the miniatures, books and dice will be available to pre-order this weekend, giving you another chance to dive deep into the ongoing storyline in Warhammer Age Of Sigmar. I think the Flesh-eater Courts have been gifted a great glow-up in terms of their miniatures range and they seem like they could be a fun modelling and painting project. Maybe it's just the miniature for Ushoran drawing me in!
What do you make of the new Flesh-eater Courts offerings?
