Let Loose Arrows At The French With Perry’s Archers!
October 7, 2014 by brennon
Perry Miniatures have some more plastics on their workbench and this time it's the famed archers of the English. Ready to pluck the flower of French nobility check out the Agincourt Archers that will be out soon!
As you can see each of the archers comes with a variety of options including their stance of course as well as their own stake and pile of arrows to draw from. One thing I'll always remember from Mike Loades on a TV program a long time ago was that these archers usually had to 'relieve' themselves where they stood or nearby so when they plucked those arrows out of the ground they were like little bio-hazard weapons. You might survive the hit of the arrows but the infection could claim your life after the fact!
You can see the sprue for these English Army Archers above too detailing just what you're getting. I've always loved archers and archery so this could well be something I pick up on principle alone without the need to build an army! Some nicely detailed miniatures once again from the Perry twins and well worth adding to a Medieval army or indeed mixing into something more fantastical.
What do you think?
Superb as expected of Perry Bros.
If I played Bretts they would be a no brainer.
Am with you Ben, and if I thought I had a chance of actually getting a small diorama finished would get a set just because.
Nice touch to include the arrers stuck in the ground for easy access and maybe a bit of contamination
Early biological warfare! lol
The bretts are exactly what came to my mind the moment I seen them.
Nice models and the sprues look like they utilized the space well.
Gott damnit, these minis look better than a jar of peanut butter smeared onto a naked Heidi Klum!
Heidi Klum!?! Showing your age there Panzerkanzler! ;P
Not that I disagree with the sentiment, peanut butter ftw! 😀
Yup, these rock. I’ve always wanted to get WotR on the tabeltop (ever since playing Kingmaker as a kid). Can anyone recommend a system for it?
I used Basic Impetus a few times, and will be using it at the university if the Classics Dept ever gets their stodgy head out of their ass lol.. Free download, fairly easy to play. Good for ancients, and I think there are army lists out there for medieval scrums as well.
Thank you, Perry Brothers, for destroying my credit rating lol. I may just get a box of these to mix in with the Bretonnian archers I’m using for one of the human armies in my fantasy world.
These would go really well into a Kings of War army
They would go well in any army ;-). Warning: they are true 28mm, as opposed to heroic 28mm, so some may chafe at the discrepancy I.e. size of weapons, limbs, etc. I mount them on a higher base, rather than the ones they come with…. seems to help, although I don’t know why, as they are 28mm high.
I’d love these and some Fireforge knights as a Bretonian army.
Sorry to reduce some outstanding historical minis to WFB but … well, y’know. If anyone can suggest a mounted wizardlady this half-assed idea would be a goer.
@somegeezer I just bought the female mounted wizard at Gamezone, part of their feudal (read Bretonnian) army. Metal, super detailed, a beautiful figure… and only 12 euros. Great price for a mounted metal mini. Style wise, she would fit in well with the Perry stuff. Also, if you want consistency in your army, I’d go with the Perry heavy cavalry and infantry as well. You don’t get any caparisons to paint, but half of them have integrated metal barding and it can be added to others. They’re not as big as the GW knights, but I like them better… and… Read more »

Forgot the link to the wizard!
Cheers. I’ll have a nosey
So for total authenticity sculpt a little poo on the ground at their feet… I do remember seeing that show. Beautiful minis – the Perrys are the best at this medieval era.
Well, I’m using them in a fantasy setting so the poo will be a coiled monster that comes to a point at the archer’s waist, and contains helmets and gauntlets.
Well for the price they certainly are, though I still prefer the Front Rank range
Those are really good archers as could be expected from Perry Brothers.
look fab! only gripe, not much of a gripe, but a couple of hammers would have been a nice addition as side arms instead of the swords and axes you can spot on the sprues
Handy combination of mallet and bollock dagger dispatched many a Frenchman knocked from his horse!
None the less, really, really look cool, can’t wait to get some!
There is a figure with a hammer in the photo headed, “Plastic Agincourt Archer samples”.
As a wargamer and a Longbowman I will have no excuse not to buy a few boxes of these.
Just in time to get some painted for the 600th anniversary.
Wow, my first marriage only lasted a few years ;-).
Shame their isn’t one giving the v’s
hmm looks like my habit of buying Perry minis at Salute will continue unabated
They look good
A few arrow bags might have been nice for making up a diorama or diorma style base but I guess they would easy enough to make
I just noticed in the caption that there will be more movement in the French archer set… running away no doubt, or running in front of the French cavalry in a futile effort to not get trampled by your own eager knights. I’m guessing there will be a lot of crossbows with that lot.
Nah the french archers will be drinking wine, eating some cheese, catching some rays.
