If you're looking for a neat base layer to build up your next Dungeon & Dragons encounter then check out the new Battle Map Board which is available to pre-order now from Loke BattleMats.
Battle Map Board // Loke BattleMats
As you can see, this is a big ol' hefty board which is double-sided and represents both the interior of a dungeon and also a grassland where you might encounter roving bands of bandits. For fans of pens, you'll be glad to know that it's also wipe clean too.

The map folds out to create a two-foot by two-foot playing space which should be enough for anyone diving in to play out a quick encounter. All you'd have to do is lay down some walls, doors, trees and other pieces of terrain and it would be good to go. Or, you could simply scribble out a nice location for a scrap.
Pre-orders for this map are live now and will be shipping towards the tail end of October.
Are you going to be picking this up?
Why would you need a map for your RPG? 😉
I tend to scribble on a whiteboard to help with large encounters and complicated ones so something like this would actually be a nice alternative to that. I don’t use minis etc but I could always swagger with one of these haha.
I only use maps, terrain and minis in complex encounters. Especially when line of sight, cover, elevation are important.
Not all players can visualise tactical encounters, so it can help.
Because some (a lot) of folks like to see dudes on a map. Brings the story to life, and makes 5e combat come to life. Not for those who like ‘theatre of the mind’ but there is a big market for this and Loke make top notch stuff.
Great for Diablo type dungeon games where half of the game is above ground fighting.
Just got the Giant Book No.1 and the stickers and it is great. Loke have a range of great products.
For USA, Miniature Market is slightly less expensive, and has free shipping at $100.

With the dungeon, you can create “negative space” with your 3D game tiles!
