The Legion of Slaughterball March Onto the Pitch In Wave Two Previews
July 21, 2016 by dracs
Frog the What Games have received the factory production samples for some of their Slaughterball Wave 2 pieces and have just published previews of them.
The Legion Conquers the Table
The most exciting of the Wave 2 previews is undoubtedly the appearance of the Legion, the Slaughterball team with a rather classic style straight from the glory days of ancient Rome.
The sculpts seemed to have been realised quite well here and I particularly like the vibrant purple colour of the models themselves. I think that having bright team colours is one of the best approaches Frog the What has taken when designing their miniatures as it makes the teams instantly recognisable and playable right from the outset.
Having said that, the bright purple colouration does serve to hide some of the detail in these pictures, so it would still be preferable to see a team fielded that's fully painted.
Homeground Advantage
As well as the Legion, Frog the What have shown off a lot of the various pieces of merchandise on the way for Slaughterball.
This includes dice, dice bags and tokens for each of the various teams. However, the most interesting inclusion has to be the Team Arena Game Boards.
The Team Arenas are a very good inclusion to the game, providing players with new environments and challenges to face, unique to each of the different teams' home field, and expanding upon the base game.
What do you think of their progress?
Did you back Slaughterball at Kickstarter? What do you think of the miniatures? Which of the Team Arena's do you like the most?

Did anyone try this ? What about the ruleset ?
I’ve been playing for about 6 months and have not been able to break the ruleset. Solid rules, large minis and board and it plays better with more people (up to 4). By far the best multiplayer fantasy sports game out. I’ve tried Dreadball, guildball and original bloodbowl and this is my favorite Games speed up the closer you are to the end through attrition of players.
Thanks for telling BOW readers about Slaughterball, Sam! I really appreciate that you’re helping spread the word about our game.
Guttedrunner, you can find the PDF rulebooks here: http://www.slaughterball.net/downloads/. If you have any specific questions, I can answer them.
Wow. Those arenas… they just “pop”.
@guttedrunner – Ruleset is solid. I’ve tried Kaosball, Bloodbowl & Dreadball – I like Slaughterball best, as it gets players to the real action ASAP. Very fast paced and keeps you engaged when it’s not your turn. Very good with 2, best with 3-4.
