Fantasy Flight Games are previewing the first Premium Expansion for Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game as they reveal the neutral cards of Children of the Empire.

Children of the Empire brings with it 234 cards, made up of three copies of seventy-six cards, and one copy each of six other cards, spread over the seven Great Clans of the game.

However, it's the neutral cards, usable by any clan, that Fantasy Flight have focused on for this preview.

These neutral cards provide you with some new, flexible options for deck builds, including new characters, attachments and events.

Perhaps the most exciting addition is that of Emperor Hantei XXXVIII, the Son of Heaven himself.

As you might expect, the Emperor will never join a conflict himself. However, his influence means your opponent is going to be facing an uphill battle, as bow his characters and choose the targets for his abilities. Lose the Imperial Favour, however, and the Emperor leaves as well.

Legend of the Five Rings is a game and setting that a few of us here have been interested in digging into. The new cards this Premium Expansion should mix things up for it significantly and I am interested to find out whether or not the Emperor will become a familiar figure on the tournament scene.

Do you play Legend of the Five Rings? What do you think of these cards?
