Fantasy Flight Games have announced an excited narrative adventure game set in the Runebound Universe, Legacy of Dragonholt.

Legacy of Dragonholt Box

"Adventurers build their own stories by making choices that will lead into dark caves and dangerous forests, pit them against cunning bandits and vicious monsters, earn them wealth and fame, and hopefully bring them to foil the plot of an evil overlord."

Legacy of Dragonholt Game

The game sees up to six players take on the role of bold heroes in the fantasy realm of Terrinoth as they are presented with a daunting mystery set in and around the village of Dragonholt.

The decisions players make along the way will have an impact on their adventure and will form a web of complex narrative as even the opportunities they fail to find will change how the quests play out.

The quests promise a range of settings too from traveling the road to Dragonbolt, attending a strange masquerade ball and finding a countess's missing daughter.

Legacy of Dragonholt Character Creation

Players will be able to design their characters choosing from 6 typically high fantasy races including humans, orcs, dwarves, elves, gnomes and catfolk.

Legacy of Dragonholt Catfolk

Alongside appearance, cultural choices, histories and backgrounds that support the character creation, players will choose from a range of classes; apothecary, bard, brawler, knight, sage, thief or wildlander.

Players will record all their characters details on Character Sheets and have a range of training, talents and tactics to utilise.

Legacy of Dragonholt Cards

As the game progresses characters can gain experiences, increased stamina, new skills and assorted items and rewards.

From the images so far it looks like the game will provide a map and reference book for each of the buildings or NPCs you might meet, similar to Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective.

The "Oracle system", as FFG are calling it, removes the need for a Dungeon or Games Master and allows the game to play fully co-operatively.

I am super excited for this game as I usually end up playing as the Dungeon Master in my role-playing groups. The thought of being able to sit down for an evening to embark on an adventure with a group of friends sounds wonderful.

One concern I have is that once you are through the six quests will there be any more replayability? That being said, even if it was six sessions of co-operative, up to six player fun, this should be well worth the investment.

The game will be available in Q4 of 2017.

Will you gather your allies and take up the challenge to solve this fantasy mystery?
