Lead The Freeborn With New NuHU Renegades For Gates Of Antares
September 18, 2016 by brennon
Warlord Games have added some more NuHu Leaders to your force of Freeborn getting ready for battle in Beyond The Gates Of Antares. See what you think of these Renegades...
So what's the background behind one of these Melds?
"NuHu have the uncanny ability to meld their minds into a single entity – but this a dangerous practice only undertaken in cases of the utmost necessity and under conditions designed to minimise risk. Minds once co‐joined in this way can never be entirely separated and entire personality collapse is always a possibility.
Only the Renegade NuHu are likely to employ a meld in a combat situation, for they are driven by their own collective madness, possessed of minds that are no longer really human at all."
Inside the set you're going to get a Male and a Female version of the NuHu Renegade so you get a little bit of diversity when they hit the table. I have to say the sculpts are impressive and I like their work on both the armour and their clothing too.
You can also get a webstore offering which comes with Shield, Spotter and Nano Drones too making it so that you have some options for protecting your Renegade in the field as well.
Are you tempted by these new heroes?

Very nice.
I really like these. I think Warlord Games is doing a very good job with this game and I somewhat lament the fact that I don’t have time to play another system.
These are fantastic. Good times for the Freeborn (though after Justin and John’s battle I want a renegade Boromite overseer).
Looks nice.
Throw your hands in the air and wave ’em like you just don’t care.
And the NuHu ballroom champions are………
they look good very flamboyant looking pair,
they remind me more of a team from the hunger games film?
Alas while I love the BtGoA minis a few are incredibly let down by the pose of the minis.
The worst so far are:
General Tar-es-Janar

Amano Harran

….and now these. Great idea/concept…..but the pose (wave your hans in the air like you just don’t care…..indeed)
I have been watching them expand the range. I’m still probably a few years out before I have the time to play yet another system, but at some point I’ll probably pick it up. Warlord seems to have a very stable, long range view on their games, so I fully expect it to be around when I finally do get a chance to play. Until then I’ll just press my nose against the glass and enjoy the scenery 🙂
The renegade NuHu in the game lore are a very twisted, almost Mengler-esque bunch who got kicked out of the Concord for unethical genetic experimentation and now basically create new hybrid species out of a combination of misplaced scientific curiosity and as weapons to sell on the black market to unscrupulous Freeborn Vardos. Merging their minds in battle to create a composite consciousness is probably one of the less weird things they get up to.
In essence, they are the supervillains/mad scientists of the setting. Those slightly strange dance moves of theirs are most emphatically evil dance moves…
I.e. they are the “Dark Eldar” of this universe.
Altogether now… “Y…M..C…A…”
Like the models, not so keen on the pose! 🙂
Beautiful models.
