Lazy Squire Games Preview Armoured Options For Ravaged Star
January 13, 2022 by brennon
Lazy Squire Games and MiniWarGaming have been previewing some more options coming to their Ravaged Star Gamefound crowdfunding campaign very soon. This is a neat update on what we saw towards the tail end of last year.
Ravaged Star // MiniWarGaming & Lazy Squire Games
Previously, we'd seen some of the characters and troops that were getting added to this campaign. But, the range has been fleshed out even more with brutal new options for you to consider. It's a pretty good range of models that allows you to fill all of the gaps in your force organisation chart.
Veil-Scarred Abominations Elite Pack // MiniWarGaming & Lazy Squire Games
One such preview was for the Veil-Scarred Abominations Elite Pack. This offers up some twisted and demonic entities which are a fusion of twisted flesh and warped armour. They are armed with some seriously powerful weapons for dealing with foes at range and in close combat.
We also got a look at some more elite options and vehicles coming as part of another of their War Packs.

This gives you a selection of new elite troops to perhaps use as your warlord's chosen on the battlefield. You also get the option of some vehicles. There are a couple of variants (above) with alternative weapon options plus just the Veil-Touched Armored Transport Elite Pack.

So, there is plenty for you to mix and match when it comes to this crowdfunding campaign. The aim is for this to all land on the 25th January and offers up a way for you to snap up a whole bunch of miniatures to use in your grimdark tabletop games.
The team at Lazy Squire and MiniWarGaming also have their own game planned with these miniatures so watch this space as to how that comes together. The miniatures themselves are all 32mm (so 28mm heroic in many regards) and come in high-quality PVC. It matches up well with some of the miniatures Lazy Squire has done in the past for their other games.
Are you going to be backing this when it fires up?

Those are really nice.
Ooh yeah great looking figures an the APCs are fantastic looking.
This came as a bit of surprise to me. I never thought MiniWargaming would upset the apple cart like this. Practically poking the bear and biting the hand that feeds you. Let’s face it, they practically live off of GW IPs without paying any dues to GW at all as far as I know. Doing this kind of a kickstarter is practically begging to be put on GWs shit list. Those transports could have been way more “unique” in my opinion. They are way to obviously rhino clones. All of that being said, I will back it for one of… Read more »
it’s a metal box with tracks … of course it’s going to look like any other tracked metal box with tracks 😉
Note that it has two tiny tracks instead of one big one.
And the shape is a bit different too.
Not sure how GW lawyers could pick that as a copyright/ip violation.
GW lawyers have gone after people for alot less then this, which is obviously a rhino. Everyone knows it is a copy of the rhino. It doesn’t take much legal right to get gamefound to cancel their ability to crowdfound on the site. One letter is all it would take. No one is going to try and take this to court. Didn’t GW literally just get down getting a .stl kickstarter shut down for looking to much like their “nighthaunt” line of miniatures?? Not sure about that, but I thought I heard that happened a few months back.
I remember that one.
That crowdfunded project re-started after fixed the more obvious complaints from GW (which were almost 1:1 copies of night haunt characters/minis.
I think it was a Kickstarter.
Gamefound is based in Poland, which might make things different. I’m no lawyer so I don’t know by how much different (someone ought to do some research on that … ).
It wouldn’t stop GW from sending in the lawyers and the threat may be enough for the creators to back down or change things, but there’s a chance things would be different.
You raise a very interesting point. The secondary market is full of so many 1:1 GW Knock-offs that I mostly take it for granted. My Ork army is filled with gorgeous Kromlech, Wargames Exclusive and Artel stuff, none of which is even remotely trying to hide what Warhammer 40k unit it is supposed to be. Would GW be able to take this down or go after them? Interesting question. As for MiniWargaming, I think the only thing they get from Games Workshop are a few samples and review copies a day or two before release, so I don’t think their… Read more »
Yes exactly, it couldn’t be more in your face to GW if you tried.. MiniWargaming must feel confident enough that being removed from GW’s advanced copies/promo list will have no impact on the business. That’s if they are still on it!
Sorry Gee Dubs, the third party companies are once again proving that they can do it better… Given how sporadic GW is with its release schedule when it comes to Chaos stuff, it’s always good to see 3P companies stepping up to the plate to give the hobbyists what they want.
I agree with the contributors comparing this product with GW Intellectual property. It really is pretty obvious. Saying that I like the detailed figures. I do wish they made something different than rhino/land raider clones, but I understand how cost effective it is to produce simple box shapes. I do love the chaos theme but would like to see suitable protagonists for them to fight against before investing in the game system as a whole.
Another nice scifi version of the much plagiarised M113
