Kromlech Bring A Knife To The Table
August 17, 2016 by dracs
Kromlech have released a new modelling knife for you to use when assembling and sculpting your miniatures.
A knife like this is a vital part of any modeler's selection of tools. Kromlech also provide a selection of new blades with this knife, adding to its longevity and making it easy to replace when the blade gets dulled.
Have you ever used any of Kromlech's modelling supplies?
"A knife like this is a vital part of any modeler's selection of tools..."
Plain old, uninteresting with nothing new to show, is it really newsworthy? it is not even the much better design that screws from the back and does not have the secure screw near the grip.
I did see that they’ll be releasing heavy duty, fabric bandages next year.
Yeah, really not seeing what makes this craft knife better then my X-acto that I bought 15 years ago for $4. If you want to be innovative, give my a quick change blade function that doesn’t require spinning the collar to loosen the collet. Make it a little more ergonomic for those of us who have some arthritis or carpal tunnel.
O.O um… am I missing something unique about this xacto knife?
I have a nice set of xacto that I got a few years ago and I have my Grandfathers xacto, all still working and the blades need replacing every once in a while. @ravingmad8 that is a good idea.
A sharp knife.
I bet that the BoW crew never have buy another sharp hobby knife again. 😉
We don’t keep knives in the office any more. Not since Justin and the day of July 13th…. so many aubergines. So many.
When will someone bring out a model knife with a finger guard between the blade and handle so idiots like me who try to push too hard dont A, slip down to the business without slicing fingers or B so if the blade does break (LOL if?) I don’t bury the broken tip in said fingers, (oh hang on that’s a great idea get me the phone number of a knife company.)
@chrisg 8-10mm drill bit and 2p coin says winner 😉
The real answer is to skip hobby knives and go straight for swann morton blade holders and blade changers, there is a reason surgeons dont use round profile handles, as well as not holding it like a pen….
scalpel is an interesting idea, hadn’t considered it before. I have an S-W handle in my tool box. I always use a stanley knife which has rubber pads on the case to give a good comfortable grip.
*S-M (Swann Morton) handle, not S-W.
@nighthunter666 If you havnt tried it before, give it a bash, i find the scalpel’s to be more comfortable for detail work and getting into awkward places, mainly down to the weighting of the handles, i.e. the scalpel tends to be heavier at the top of the handle, where as a craft knife is a consistent weight all over, my craft knifes tend to get used for flat work as the pen grip is great for cutting stencils and decals etc.
End of the day what ever works best for you 🙂
