Knight Models Preview Sword Swinging Katana & Super Hunks
March 4, 2020 by brennon
Knight Models has previewed more characters that are going to be available this weekend for you to snap up and add into your Batman Miniatures Game collection. We start with the sword-swinging Katana who gets herself a new model.
Katana is a character with a typically DC-level tragic backstory. When her husband, Maseo, died, his soul became trapped in her blade, the Soultaker. Now, she does some of the riskier missions as part of The Outsiders, a team of heroes picked by Batman. This acts effectively as his own black-ops team that do the things he just can't. She has also been known to fight alongside the Justice League and the Birds Of Prey.
If you're interested in how she plays, we also have a look at Katana's cards...
As you might imagine, she is very much into close combat and getting stuck into the fighting. She is able to clamber and scamper through terrain and get up close and personal, ready to hack you down with her deadly mythical sword.
A Gallery Of Heroes
As well as the release of Katana we're also getting this set of heroes who have all manner of superpowers to bring to the tabletop. I must admit, bar two characters, I had no idea who these characters were until Gerry told me!
Here we have, from left to right, Martian Manhunter, Blue Beatle, Dr Fate, Booster Gold, Shazam and finally...well, we couldn't work out who he was. With that in mind, we'd like you folks in the comments to make sure we've got this right and tell us who he is!
Regardless of our poor DC knowledge, it is nice to see a new array of alternative heroes from the DC back catalogue. I guess I'll have to do some book learnin' if I want to get myself into the DC headspace!
What do you make of these upcoming releases?

Think the last one is called Mr Miracle (iirc his secret identity is Scott Free); he’s the greatest escape artist in the DC Universe and is one of the New Gods.
Also I’m a bit of an old grognard so to me it’s Captain Marvel, not Shazam. ?
Yep… Think it’s Mr Miracle… couldn’t remember his name, but now that you say it…
Yeah I also stick to Captain Marvel, it just makes introducing himself a lot easier. 😛
I think the two things Mr. Miracle is most known for is 1; His awful Christmas colored costume and 2; That he is married to Big Barda.
That’s his wife’s name; couldn’t remember what she was called just that she used to be the leader of Darkseid’s all-female bodyguards.
Cool. Never once stumbled upon Mr Miracle in my comic reading career, are any of his books worth checking out or is he filler C-list hero?
Dunno sorry, never read any of his books; only know about him from mentions in other books.
I haven’t read it, but his Rebirth series is meant to be pretty good.
If that group is being sold as a set it’s probably under the Justice League International banner as they all played prominently in Keith Giffen JM DeMatteis run on the title back in the 1980’s
Like those a lot. Look like they´ll be fun to paint !
Fun fact: Despite i am not a DC fan (pure Marvelist) i know everyone of them. Does this make sense?
Their all new to me apart from Shazam from the film.
J’onn J’onnz the Martian Manhunter is the last Green Martian has flight, super strength, psychic powers and can phase through matter. He also has a deathly phobia of fire (iirc one time Batman boasted that to take out Superman he needed a billion dollar space rock, to take out J’onn he just needed a dollar book of matches from a corner news stand). Ted Kord is the second Blue Beetle; he could never get the alien artefact/armour that gave the first and third Beetles their powers so compensated by being a gadgeteer genius. And like Batman and Green Arrow he… Read more »
Great looking minis!
I was not looking for more of these, but Blue Beatle and Boosters Gold are some of my favs because they are not Uber powerful and have generally smarter stories. Very much street level heroes.
