King Leonidas Is Wargame Illustrated’s Next Giant In Miniature
May 6, 2019 by brennon
The next Giants In Miniature releases from Wargames Illustrated is going to be the Spartan King, Leonidas.
This fierce leader, popularised by the movie 300, would make a fantastic leader for your army as it does battle against pitiful Athenians and Persians alike. I love that his shield has clearly seen better days, used in battle time and again.
The model above was sculpted by Steve Saleh who you might know for his work on the Lucid Eye range. I can already see this becoming part of a lot of collections.
What do you make of this miniature?

Going with cheesy Frank Miller style Spartans rather than historical Spartans I see. I dig it.
that’s the joy of the Giants in Miniature, they’re generally based on pop cultural versions rather than the historic and depending on where they’ve sourced it from they will either really stand out or blend seamlessly. I love them.
Don’t need it for anything. Still going to buy it.
A brilliant looking model.
This is Sparta
someone has to do it 🙂 so it may as well be me
he’s not, I asked WI the moment they showed him off, he’s probably a couple of months away still.
I would prefer it if he was in a more attacking pose like being apart of an assaulting phalanx of Spartans.
