Hasslefree’s Kickstarter Fires Through Funding For Fantasy Females
September 12, 2016 by dracs
Hasslefree's Kickstarter has launched and has already managed to surpass its initial funding goal five times over!
The Four Feature Figures
This Kickstarter was set up to get funds in order to make four initial fantasy female minis sculpted by Kev White and based upon the pin-up artwork of Matt Dixon.
Each of these models comes in three variants; pin-up, skyclad and winter clothing. The winter clothing are probably my favourite of these as I think that these give off a good sense of their character and have a more adventurous feel, especially Aneira.
Kev has already sculpted up the the three variant models for Erryn A'Dell, letting us see how the initial concepts transfer into miniature form.
Kev White is generally an excellent sculptor and I think that he's doing some good work with these figures. The style and character of the concept art is definitely recognisable here and it will be cool to see how the other miniatures shape up.
Stretch Goals
As of writing this, Hasslefree's Kickstarter has already managed to break through a few stretch goals. These include two new fantasy females in all their variants.
Boudi is an interesting design, especially considering that I doubt her winter clothing variant will be much warmer in snowy conditions. However, my eye is caught mostly by Glory. She must be a trooper of a character.
As well as these two, a stretch goal has been reached to give Dawn, the Stone Age Warrior, a companion.
This is Tryke and if dinosaurs can be cute then he is that. It's a fun little addition that lets you fully recreate the artwork.
For the moment, there is only one more set of stretch goals to unlock.
I like the idea of this model, however the general style makes it one I'm not overly enamored with. This is mostly due to her knock-kneed stance, which to my eye makes her look likes she's desperate for the toilet.
Over all, this Kickstarter is off to a very promising start. Some of the models would definitely be nice additions to an adventuring party. Hopefully, we will get to see more stretch goals in the near future.
Are you going to chip in on this one? Which model is your favourite?

For Glory, Sole Survivor, is it just me or is that the same stance as Eddie in http://www.wallpapersimages.co.uk/wallpapers/master/MIX/1024×768/Wallpapers-3/iron-maiden-eddie-the-trooper-wallpaper.jpg
Dear Hasslefree, please do one in a British period uniform…..
Was thinking exactly the same thing, should have called her Edwina….
The most dressed ones seem pretty good, rest are kind of meh, feels like so many mini’s have skimpy outfits.
I generally agree with you, although it is a pinup series so par for the course and not representative of a games overall aesthetic which is where i feel the skimpy attired mini argument carries some weight, as for the skyclad ones, that’s really a matter of personal taste, although its not like some of the greatest examples of art are nude sculptures is it now 😉
Totally agreed, the most clothed versions just seem to be more characterful.
What can I say, I love the refreshingly un-PC tone of these models. I agree about the knees on Shayda, though, that seems a very anime pose (a lot of this in the Kingdom Death pinups, too).
Wow, Glory totally looks like Iron Maiden Eddie. You guys nailed it. 😀
Great article. Just the thing to brighten up a gloomy-skied Monday.
If you’re on Facebook, look up Hasslefriesian (Kev White), Hassle Free’s sculpt. He has a decidedly un-PC outlook on life and clearly loves his work. He posts lots of WIPs and gets involved with a fair bit of banter with his followers.
Well the next strech goal is for a male model in all 3 versions
Lol at those male model stretch goals …
Maybe it’s the one @warzan can compare against ? 😉
let’s keep the skyclad male ones out of @dignity ‘s sight… he’ll get distracted painting the eyes 🙂
I’m afraid Shayda ‘is’ in the ‘needs a pee’ stance, that’ how the art is so that’s how we’re making her 🙂 The Winter version, as mentioned on the KS, will be altered as it doesn’t make as much sense when she’s all kitted up. And yes, all of us at HF have a more ‘non-PC’ outlook. We have no problem with nudity in miniature form, nor, obviously, do we have a problem with pin up art. We do try to represent both sides though and thought it only fair that the artists should be represented the same as his… Read more »
said my piece when the art was up last week , have you guys done anything cyberpunk or far eastern that would fit infinity? or do you plan on doing anything along those lines at some point?
There’s an infinity forum somewhere that has a HF thread in it matching thinsg that may work. I can’t remember it off the top of my head though sorry, some googling of Infinity and Hasslefree will probably work 🙂
No current plans, but with Cyberpunk 2073 looking like it may actually exist at some point the genre has come to our attention 😉
Shadowrun has a dearth of miniatures. The Hasslefree Grymm are great for picking up Dwarf characters but how about some sci-fi Elves and Trolls? And maybe a few Grymm wearing stuff other than armour.
And sci-fi Orks as well. Mustn’t forget the Orcs.
Is it possible Shadowrun also has a dearth of players who want to buy minis? 🙂
I have no idea on how many Shadowrun players are out there struggling to find miniatures
I heard he was stopping sculpting nipples on his female nudes though because apparently people were acting like children. I love following Kev on Facebook, I’ve never met the man but his Facebook posts always brighten my day
This seems to be one KS to follow.
Not normally one for pin up minis but will be backing this come pay day, Kev has a tasteful way of doing nudes/scantily clad with realistic body shapes. I do like the 3 options per model.
@artemisblack when we going to see that snow leopard stretch goal?
Maybe tomorrow, or maybe we’ll wait until we have a WIP, we’re juggling the Stretch Goals as we blew through so many of them so fast the sculptors schedules have been thrown off 🙂
Fancagne is working on the Snow Leopard btw, lil sneak bit of info there. Kev did fancy it but with us likely unlocking an extra character or two on top of what we hoped for then I wanted to take something off his plate and Fancagne should do an excellent job.
There’s also another companion coming by Tre, for a character not yet unlocked.
Cheers @artemisblack glad its going well. Will pledge come payday. I have faith in sculptors to back from the art.
they are great clothed & unclothed.
Wait, what? So much talking about sexism in representing models in our hobby and now you prommote this??? Decide where you stand on it and stick with it or your opinions are worth nothing.
Wait, what? So much talking about sexism in representing women in our hobby and now you prommote this??? You disgust me. Decide where you stand on it and stick with it or your opinions are worth nothing.
I guess this is Po’s law in action. Not sure if genuine anger or faux outrage
*grin* I have decided where I stand on it, same place I always have.
Would be a lot more interested if there was a greater variety of body shapes, more natural and believable for an adventuring party, and way more interesting for me to paint I think, Titillating but not for me.
We only have the existing art to go on really. We already do a pretty wide variety of body shapes at HF I think though.
What kind of looks did you mean?
Final 24hrs on this!
