Khurasan Test The Waters For New 28mm Sci-Fi Mutants
July 16, 2018 by brennon
Khurasan Miniatures is looking to test the waters to see if these particular Aranae Soldiers would be of use to people in 28mm.
The range was originally going to be created as a set of multi-part plastic soldiers for you to use in your Sci-Fi games but they were eventually turned into 15mm single pose figures instead. However, the team are now looking to see if people would like to see these models produced in pewter this time around, even if it was just for a set of five as you'll see here.
That massive model in the background is also something in the pipeline and will be included as part of a Kaiju-esque range that Khurasan has been working on for some time.
I think these aliens/mutants would be awesome for a myriad of different skirmish games out there, especially those that only have a rule set and no model range. You could use these in the likes of Deadzone or maybe Core Space too.
What do you think of the idea?

As an update on this post it was clarified that these won’t be in plastic but instead a multipart pewter kit for you to use in your games – I was confused by the original post. Sorry folks!
Those look very nice.
28mm plastic…Yes bloody please
Space skinks? an the monster is fantastic a bit like a armoured Rancor (SW) this could be a fabulous lizard army in the making.
Hmmm in this day and age would such a set sell well without an accompanying rules system/fluff (and other miniatures/opponents from the same manufacturer)?
These days we’ve become pretty lazy, and like everything in a box that good to go. I’ve not seen that many “stand alone” plastic sets (particularly in Sci-Fi) released lately. Still it might prove to be a good seller. However I would imagine that many stores would shy away from stocking it without an accompanying range of “stuff”.
…still, you got to start somewhere 🙂
I think there is room for someone to just create miniatures without a range. There are so many games out there, particularly Sci-Fi skirmish games, which you could use these in.
Useful for people running sci-fi RPGs, I am always on the lookout for stuff like this to represent generic aliens in RPGs. I also have Core Space on the way and there’s a potential they could be used in that or in Star Saga (which I also have). I do think there’s a small market for it, especially if they’re cheap enough
Might be fun to mix these in with some of my Rebels for Legion.
Plastis Kit?! I would definitely buy these if I could get boxes of them on their own, I don’t care for any more rule sets however. just minis and I’m there.
These look pretty cool! I’d definitely grab some, I think they might be handy reinforcements for my Deadzone Rebs army…
Maybe the original LaF post has been edited but I done see a mention of plastic only “multipart”.
Me I love them and a 5 manspider strike team is a nice sized force to add to my weird collection of such things.
They look like something I’d like to see on the other side of the battlefield and the large one looks quite challenging in a takedown with a tank division.
In short looks great and would love to fight them… especially the large one
I wish they´d announce some kind of distribution solution for europe.
