JoeK Release Their SciFi Take on the Mighty Heracles
March 29, 2015 by dracs
JoeK Minis have released their long awaited scifi sculpt based upon the classic hero of ancient Greece, the mighty Heracles.
Heracles is JoeK's second release and stands at a much smaller scale to the Hephaestus they previously presented us with.
Don't worry though. Heracles may be smaller, but according to his back story this hero is a god killer!
Heracles is an awesome miniature and JoeK have managed to both capture and update the essence of the character in their design. However, for me the most exciting news is that once they have sold enough of Heracles JoeK may begin showing us a bit of what Apollo will be like. It will be fascinating to see what their take is on the Greek god of prophecy, healing, disease and the sun.
Which figure from Greek mythology do you most want to see?

The quality of the previous release, Hephaestus, is outstanding. Well sculpted and beautifully cast. I’m a little scared to start painting it. Ordered a Heracles this morning. Looks great, could be used for a large number of games. Really nice.
While I like the Hephaestus model, Hercules looks a little stiff and awkward in his stance. The position of the sword/punch dagger arm looks a little off in that angle, when compared to the left arm. Hard to see the quality of the face sculpt as well, and on something that is 42mm if the face isn’t sculpted well the model will be ruined as its such a focal point.
However other than those points I do like the overall quality of the armour so might keep an eye out for these infuture.
Over all Heracles looks rather goofy but it’s still rather good sculpt.
Meh. Heracles’ legs are too short, and he gets the award for most impractical melee weapon ever. The other one is just another SM proxy without a gun.
“The other one is just another SM proxy without a gun.”
Well, I hate to say it, but you’re way off on that…
…unless GW have started to release 70mm tall versions.
What I meant to say was “just another SM styled mini without a gun.” Sorry: Working on a magazine article and juggling some editing tasks all at the same time.
Well, seeing as GW seem to have been there in the garden of sodding Eden and everything appears to have links with their stuff, I probably won’t ever be able to win this argument 😉
I know what your saying GW fanboys think everything comes from 40K, I dont see any thing SM about this figure.(but I’ve dropped GW and went to Mantic) Gets pretty old fast with GW coming up with everything any one produces, if its sci fi and the dudes in armor its GW I guess Iron Man has roots there too
