Italeri Working On Rorke’s Drift Battle Set Coming Soon
December 14, 2015 by brennon
Italeri have shown off some of the finished work on their neat sounding Rorke's Drift Battle Set which will be available soon. You can see what's inside it here including some rather nifty looking terrain pieces...
Kicking things off we take a look at some of the terrain that you get inside the box. As well as stone walls, brick walls and some sandbags you also get two big buildings. These are the Hospital and Supply Depot which you can see below.
These are some nice looking buildings with plenty of room inside to fight out some scuffles inside the buildings for when the Zulus push through your lines and start scrapping with you in hand to hand. Talking of Zulus see what you think of some of the models...
The full roster of miniatures includes ninety Zulu Warriors and forty British Infantry so you have a veritable horde of models to play around with when you get this set. All of this is in 1:72 scale as well so you could grab a rules set and start fighting out the defence of this section of the village.
What do you think?

While looking at the British soldiers for this, they seemed really familiar. So a quick google search, and it all came back to me. I had an absolute tonne of stuff from this range when I was young (25+) years ago (I think perhaps with airfix’s stuff).
The majority of it must have been this stuff though. Good times.
Something else shiny I need!
Zulu, a film full of classic quotes, my favourite being “I came here to build a bridge” well it would be, I am an ex Sapper 🙂
John Rouse Merriot Chard, I doff my cap to you Sir.
Or how about:
Colour Sergeant Bourne – “Mr Chard sir, the patrols have come back, Zulus have all gone sir………it’s a miracle”.
Lt. Chard- “if it’s a miracle colour sergeant, it’s a short chamber boxer Henry .45 calibre miracle”.
Colour Sergeant Bourne – “and a bayonet, with some guts behind it”.
Great to see antother company entering the tabletop market. We are spoiled with choice these days.
Apart from the buildings It looks like a re release
Color Sergeant ” 5 rounds independent fire”
Squaddie ” that’s bloody nice of him”
Buildings are produced by Sarissa, so they’ll be excellent.
AAALLLLLLRRRRRIGHT then Nobody told you to stop workin’
PS Any good rulesets to recommend for this…
This is certainly not Italeri’s first steps into wargaming they ran a WW2 game with some extremely easy play good rules a while back. Not sure but I think I have a copy of them somewhere they were called Target or something they are 1/72 and have a passing resemblance to just about all WW2 games.
