Warhammer Age Of Sigmar was not left out of the big reveals from Games Workshop during the NOVA Open. The forces of Destruction are on the warpath (how apt) and some big beasts are coming to end the plans of the Dawnbringers Crusades.

Leading the way, we have Trugg, The Troggoth King who was awoken by Alarielle’s Rite of Life. He had been slumbering for many years and entire civilisations have been built over the top of him. The arcane engine that is strapped to his back continues to annoy him despite how often he has tried to destroy it.

The magical powers seeping from it have influenced him ever since and now he pounds around the Mortal Realms looking to stomp on any of the loci of magical power he can find. You never know, he might actually end up working out how to get rid of it at some point. He reminds me a lot of Throgg from Warhammer Fantasy Battles (note the name similarity) who as blessed with intelligence by the Chaos Gods.

Many Trolls would follow Throgg and it seems to be the case here too. Many Troggoths follow in his wake and have effectively turned his rampage into the march of a devastating, monstrous army. This march across the Mortal Realms will be the focal point of the next book in the Dawnbringers Crusade series, Reign Of The Brute.

This book will detail the events unfolding in Warhammer Age Of Sigmar plus you'll also find rules in there for three factions and a mercenary company of Kharadron Overlords who can fight for the forces Order. If you've ever wanted to snap up a full army of Troggoths then this might be the way to go, especially if you like following along with the narrative.

The Ironjawz Are On The March

I promised Ironjawz and here they are. There is a new boss leading the way for these burly Orruks called Zoggrok Anvilsmasha.

This Orruk is quite a good smith and has forged some of the mightiest weapons and armour of the Ironjawz. He can give your weapons some proper fightin' power and is also able to deliver a hammer blow that could smash the teeth from the jaws of a Gargant. He comes in two flavours and can be joined by his Squig, Klonk.

An awesome leader figure for the Ironjawz and I really like that Games Workshop are building on the background of this force. We've seen a lot of these miniatures in the past clad in their heavy armour and it's good to see a character now that reinforces where the arms and armour have come from.

New Ironjawz Warriors

In addition to the new character, we've also got a dual plastic kit which comes with options for making some new specialists within the Ironjawz ranks. You can start off with the Brute Ragerz.

These warriors are Orruks who have pledged that they can attempt some mighty task and then been found wanting. So, much like Slayers of old in Warhammer Fantasy Battles, they strip down their armour and vow that they are going to charge into the heart of battle and take down the biggest foes or die trying. It certainly makes sense that an Orruk would go to those lengths to prove themselves but it does make me miss me ol' Slayers!

If you're looking for some Orruks who have gone "proper wonky" as the Shamans would say, you can also pick from the Weirdbrute Wrekkaz.

These fellows have weird metal and bone masks hammered onto their faces and are sent bellowing off into the the centre of the battlefield to cause as much mayhem as they can. All they see is pain thanks to the nails in their skulls and that makes them proper good killaz!

Last but not least, we have the update for the traditional Orruk Ardboys. Since the older kit is going to be recycled back into Warhammer: The Old World and Games Workshop would never want you being able to double up the use for a kit (am I cynical yet?), we've got a proper glow up for the Ardboys.

Made to match the more modern sculpts for the Orruks of Warhammer Age Of Sigmar, these are a significant upgrade and they do look ace. I love that they have big ol' cruel spears and even their shields are weapons of a fashion. They look ace and can see them being great fun to paint, especially if you wanted to play around with all sorts of weathering effects.

Grab Yer Rulez!

This is going to be a free digital supplement that you can pick up which contains all of the rules for the newest miniatures previewed for the Ironjawz. It is compatible with Battletome: Orruk Warclans and simply acts as a good way to bolster your army and bolt on all of the new units.
