Inari’s Judgement & More Clash In GCT Studios’ Bushido
May 16, 2023 by brennon
GCT Studios has dropped an awesome array of new miniatures for those delving into their 35mm scale Fantasy world of Bushido. We start with a themed warband that is now available for folks to snap up, packed full of deadly and cunning-looking Kitsune.
Inari's Judgement // Bushido
Some background on this new themed warband of skilled warriors...
"To evade the divine laws is to summon the wrath of the Kitsune themselves. Follow the path of your destiny, the one set out for you before you were even born, lest the Kitsune hunt you down for your transgressions against nature inviolate. The Kitsune are both Judge and Executioner against the worlds of the kami, the living and the dead. To stray from the path, even just a little, could mean death but fear not, for if there is retribution to the guilty, there is restitution to the innocent; all that matters is what you choose to be."
The miniatures from the world of Bushido are generally absolutely stunning but in this case, I think that the sculptors have outdone themselves. All of the Kitsune that you get in the set looks brilliant and feature lovely details for painters to get stuck into. This means that you're going to be gazing down at a riot of colours when you see these on the tabletop.
Inari's Judgement (Painted Miniatures) // Bushido
You've got some deadly swordsmen, sorcerers, purveyors of musical skill and even some more natural-looking foxes who are now on the hunt. I really like the blind archer at the back, drawing his bow back for an epic shot that is somehow going to hit its target as it vanishes into the distance.
GCT isn't done when it comes to Kitsune though. There are also two different characters that you can pick up away from the set for the Temple Of Ro-Kan.
Hofuku // Bushido
The first miniature is the melee badass that is Hofuku. She is very, very good at delivering that deathblow to your opponents and can use a series of control markers, death sentence markers and the vengeance trait in order to kill whoever you have set your sights on.
You can also call on the equally deadly swordsman, Senshi.
Senshi // Bushido
Both the Kitsune and the Temple Of Ro-Kan can call on the aid of Senshi. He is a bodyguard which is going to be helpful when watching over some of the more delicate members of your warband. Don't let Senshi hang out at the back of the board though. The Kitsune are very good in the early game and can use their speed to rush forward and finish the fight quickly.
More New Bushido Miniatures!
It isn't all foxes in the world of Bushido though this month. There are also some more miniatures for a good amount of the factions in the game. We start with Ryuko, fighting for the Prefecture Of Ryu.
Ryuko // Bushido
Another awesome samurai for you to throw into your warband. The idea is that when you combine their different fighting styles, you'll be able to bring them together into a gorgeous dance of blades.
You can then turn to the Ito Clan and the slithering form of Ito Mamushi.
Ito Mamushi // Bushido
Another new samurai but one that most certainly isn't going to be fighting for Ryu. As well as being a deadly killer, Ito Mamushi is also able to apply a frightened marker to those that he deems ready to snack on. Sit this fellow on an objective and Mamushi isn't going to be going anywhere anytime soon!
You can also go a little bit wild with the addition of Foon Gus to the Savage Wave. Get gibbering!
Foon Gus // Bushido
Cheap and somewhat expendable in the grand scheme of things, Foon Gus is still able to deal a bunch of damage. Whilst he won't be the one starting a fight, he can be used to finish them. Send him in to, as GCT say "put the boot in" and finish off someone who has been surrounded and exhausted by your other warriors. If he dies in the process, there are always more bakemono.
Last but not least, you have a pair of Pilgrims. Some special miniatures for those looking to delve into a cinematic showdown on the tabletop.
Dark Pilgrim // Bushido
Grey Pilgrim // Bushido
If nothing else, this would make for an absolutely epic diorama as the Dark Pilgrim and Grey Pilgrim clash on the tabletop for the fate of the world. More stunning miniatures that almost outdo the Kitsune that we saw above but not quite. I just really, really like those Kitsune!
I think if I were to pick a favourite from the other miniatures that GCT have been working on, it would have to be Foon Gus. I love his gibbering little face and the fact that he is entirely expendable. I also think the miniature would be a lot of fun to paint, especially when blending together different colours on his blighted body.
Are you going to be picking up some new Bushido miniatures?
