The Imperial Assault Carrier Fights Back In FFG’s X-Wing
December 24, 2015 by brennon
Not content to let the Rebels control the stars the Empire have now released the Imperial Assault Carrier. Fantasy Flight Games have produced quite the nifty looking ship for use in their X-Wing game.
This is the ship which comes with a place to store your TIE Fighters underneath it allowing you to launch them in a surprise attack against the enemy. So, as well as getting the firepower and tactics of the Assault Carrier you also get additions to your TIE swarm.
If you're interested in more of the tactics for this ship then you can pop on over to the Fantasy Flight Games website linked above for more information. I think this could find its way into a few Empire lists just for the number of tricks you could pull with those TIE fighters popping out from underneath it.
It even actually has a way to attach them to the ship so it all looks realistic!
Will you be running this in your squadron?

the ship looks great and sounds nasty with the fighters hidden on-board.
Impressive.
That’s the word we are looking for. 🙂
Most Impressive.
Mine has arrived and looking through the rules I could not find anything that limited the carried ships strictly to TIE fighters. Why not a mixture of TIE and TIE-I? I must try that out.
it says you can take tie’s, tie-i, Tie-b or Tie-A, but a;; 4 have to be the same type of Tie, you cant mix and match unfortunetly
Love the ship, Quick question as I’m new to Xwing (just got my FA starter set for xmas) would i be able to use this ship in a Force Awakens setting, not seen the new film yet so dont know if they are sill in use in the new films, 60yrs after and all that.
This is from the Star Wars Rebels cartoon which is 5 years before a New Hope, so they don’t show up in any of the films, I say if you want to use it. Use it.
I found the FO TIE Fighters fit nice and snug just like all the others so yeah I’d go for it. Maybe you could First Order it up with a new coat of paint.
In the rule book it states that you class the Rebels/Resistance as a single faction and the Empire/New order as a single faction, so there’s nothing really stopping you from mixing them.
I read New Order and I heard music *shakes head* Never mind.
This is an awesome model, nothing X Wing lately has got my motor running but this has me excited. I’m off to check the price on this.
Its the new Tie pilots that excite me! Bring back the SWARM!!!!
The swarm never left!!!
