iFun4All Challenge You To Survive Their Halls Of Horror
May 17, 2019 by dracs
A new survival horror game has come to Kickstarter, challenging players to see who will be the last one standing as they are pursued by a relentless killer. Can you survive the Halls of Horror?
You wake up in an unfamiliar room, aching and with no memory of the previous night, However, this is far worse than just having a few too many the night before. You are now trapped in the Halls of Horror, designed by the distant Master of the Ceremony. Now you are challenged to explore this house and find the exit hidden in one of the rooms.
However, you are not there alone. Other characters are also trapped and only one of you will be allowed to escape. And all the while you must contend with the constant, implacable killer who stalks the halls.
Can you find the two keys that will grant your salvation? Or will you succumb and try to take one of those stitched into the skin of your fellows?
The development behind Halls of Horror is interesting as, before this, iFun4All were primarily an indie video game studio. Halls of Horror started life as a prototype to try out concepts for the video game version, but the team found they enjoyed it so much as a tabletop game that they have started this Kickstarter to make the board game a reality.
The game draws from some of the most evocative elements of survival horror, from the sick, games of the Saw series, to the relentless slashers of Friday the 13th and Halloween. This, combined with the grainy, VHS-style aesthetic, goes to make a game that is very atmospheric, celebrating the compelling nature of the horror genre.
One particular part I like is that death is not the end for a player. If their character is killed, they can then take on the role of the killer to seek out that sweet, sweet revenge. It's a fun addition that neatly turns the tables while keeping everyone engaged with the game.
The Kickstarter includes plenty of really cool add-ons and stretch goals, including a dedicated soundtrack created by the main composer of the Witcher, a series well known for its superb music.
All in all, this is a game that has definitely caught my interest and I hope we get to see more of it going forward.
You can find out more about it on the Kickstarter page.
How would you survive this sadistic situation?
