A new year and new miniatures for those wanting to dive deeper into the world of Dystopian Wars. Warcradle Studios showcased a whole host of new releases for the month of January, leading the way with the brand-new Icarus Battlefleet Set.

The Enlightened get themselves some rather funky kit to work with when it comes to the Icarus. This monolithic ship can be built in two different ways. In its Icarus variant, it can use magnetic catapults to launch squadrons of fighters into the air and also operate as a small naval base in the middle of nowhere. It can also be tweaked and turned into the Fortified Tethership which works as an epic flagship for your fleet on the tabletop.

As well as the Icarus Aeronautica Fabricator and the Daedalus Fortified Tethership, you can also get your hands on two Cruisers in this set that can be built in a variety of configurations and also six Frigate Automata. A seriously different fleet for the Enlightened to tinker with that plays around with powerful air and sea elements on the tabletop.

Heilong Battlefleet Set

You can also get your hands on an excellent new ship for the Empire with the introduction of the Heilong Battlefleet Set.

This is another fantastically huge vessel that has been unleashed on the seas of Dystopian Wars. The Heilong can combine all manner of seriously powerful weapons together into one terrible fusillade that will turn most boasts into kindling. You can also go down the route of turning it into the Ergun Assault Battleship. Smash right into your enemies and disgorge your heavily armoured infantry into the heart of the action, gutting enemy ships from within.

This set comes with the new Battleship which can be built as the Heilong or Ergun but then you also get a Tianlong Draconic Colossus, one Cruiser, two Gong Destroyers and two Shanghai Class Frigates. Who wouldn't want big floating mechanical dragons?

Faction Battlefleet Starter Sets

As well as the two new Battlefleets above that could give you bonus models for your chosen faction, you can also get your hands on a range of new Faction Battlefleet Starter Sets.

Alliance Starter Set Faction Battlefleet // Dystopian Wars

These sets have been designed to give you a set of must-have units for specific factions and provide you with a great way to get going with them in Dystopian Wars. You don't have to worry about learning army building with these as they are tailor-made for diving in.

Sultanate Starter Set Faction Battlefleet // Dystopian Wars

As well as providing you with all of the miniatures that you need to get started, you will also get a Rule Book, Victory And Valor Cards, Dice and more. It's a solid option for someone wanting to make 2023 the year of Dystopian Wars.

New Squadron Options

Bonus releases have also been added into the mix for two factions. The Canadians get themselves a new Frontline Squadron for example.

This comes with Canadian Frontline Cruisers which can be built as Newfoundland, Bonaventure, Halifax, Toronto or Yukon Class ships alongside four Orca Hunter Submarines. The Enlightened also get themselves something fun with the Enlightened Advanced Squadrons.

Enlightened Advanced Squadrons // Dystopian Wars

This gives you some fun stuff to play around with if you like the idea of gribbly machinery. You get two Advanced Cruisers (Newton, Zumeena, Vesalius or Origen Class) as well as two Assault Machines (Ketos or Lotan Class). You then get two Enlightened Escorts and two Orca Tokens to cap things off.

Overall, a rather impressive suite of releases to kick off the new year in Dystopian Wars. Some monolithic vessels hove into view and there are new ways for you to get started!
