House Bolton Terrorise A Song Of Ice & Fire TMG This Week
September 13, 2023 by brennon
A Song Of Ice & Fire: The Miniatures Game is getting a new Starter Set and more this week. CMON has been working on bringing House Bolton into the game as more than just a mercenary faction that finds itself fighting for the highest bidder. See what you make of these brutal and merciless killers.
Bolton Starter Set // A Song Of Ice & Fire The Miniatures Game
Kicking things off, we have the Bolton Starter Set that will act as your first port of call when it comes to running House Bolton on the tabletop. Marching out of the Dreadfort, you're going to be able to stake your own claim in Westeros with a new selection of characters as well as supporting troops.
Bolton Starter Set Contents // A Song Of Ice & Fire: The Miniatures Game
This set comes with everything you need to play House Bolton in A Song Of Ice & Fire with terrain, tokens, dice, cards, rules and more. Roose Bolton and Ramsay Snow are joined by Walda Frey, Jeyne Poole and Reek as they lead the way for a band of Bolton Cutthroats, Blackguards and Archers. You've also got the insidious Flayer and Captains alongside the Bannermen to make sure that your units don't waver. If they do, they might end up getting flayed!
I think this looks like a great way to put House Bolton on a bigger stage in A Song Of Ice & Fire and as you'll note, they come with cards representing them as a House in their own right and as mercenaries so you can bring them in alongside a different army...if you dare.
If you'd like even more characters to lead the way in your games then you've also got the Bolton Heroes I set.
Bolton Heroes I // A Song Of Ice & Fire: The Miniatures Game
This set gives you even more scheming backstabbers and brutal killers that can fight on the battlefield alongside your troops or in the shadows. I sense a lot of their shadowy plots involve stabbing people.
Bolton Heroes I Miniatures // A Song Of Ice & Fire: The Miniatures Game
This set comes with miniatures for Steelshanks Walton, Sour Alyn, Skinner, Grunt, Ben Bones, Tybald and Damon Dance-for-me. It's nice that there are so many characters included here that have been plucked from the pages of the books and given life in miniature form.
What's nice about the character miniatures for A Song Of Ice & Fire is that they make excellent options for those seeking NPCs and characters to make up warbands in a myriad of skirmish games. Playing Rangers Of Shadow Deep or Frostgrave? We've just found some more characters for you!
House Bolton Reinforcements
If you want to reinforce House Bolton even more, you can also pick up two more units which feel like natural extensions of the Starter Set.
Dreadfort Archers // A Song Of Ice & Fire: The Miniatures Game
The Dreadfort Archers act as your long-range options for keeping the enemy pinned and perhaps even set ablaze!

These soldiers (of which we're showing just a few of the sculpts) are then backed up by the Dreadfort Spearmen. Anyone who comes from a place called the Dreadfort can't be a nice person.
Dreadfort Spearmen // A Song Of Ice & Fire: The Miniatures Game
These folks give off a very "bad guy" vibe and that's saying something in the world of A Song Of Ice & Fire where everyone is pretty bad at some point or another. I think the extra spikes are helping with the vibe and this could certainly be the faction for those wanting to play the definitively evil faction.
Dreadfort Spearmen Miniatures // A Song Of Ice & Fire: The Miniatures Game
I wonder if the regular rank and file of House Bolton ever have one of those "are we the bad guys?" conversations and then notice all the flayed men draped over their uniforms and banners.
Could you be tempted to march alongside House Bolton?

Yes they are fabulous looking figures for players to grab up for game’s.
I’ll have them on square bases and painted ASAP!
Great models but I don’t fancy the chances of those archers hitting anything with those helmets on!
