The Barons' War: Fantasy Skirmish from Hobday & Hicks was meant to be launched this month but it has been pushed back to a Mid-August date so that more sculpting and preparation can be done. That means a little bit more of a wait but more miniatures!

The Barons War Fantasy Skirmish - Hobday & Hicks

The Barons' War: Fantasy Skirmish // Hobday & Hicks

For those not in the know, Andy Hobday and Paul Hicks have taken The Barons' War rules and will be turning them into a Fantasy wargame based on the same mechanics. Alongside this will be an awesome 28mm Fantasy miniatures range which gives off Tolkienesque vibes. Not only is this campaign there to fund the miniatures but make Hobday & Hicks as a business a reality so there's just one goal to aim for with the upcoming campaign.

Hobday also took this moment to put together a list of the miniatures for this campaign, focused on The Elves and The Orcs.

The Elves Pledge - Hobday & Hicks

The Elves Collection // Hobday & Hicks

There is a good mixture of rank-and-file troops plus characters to lead them. I would guess that these would make up the core pledges for each faction, offering up a solid skirmishing force (and then some) for use in The Barons' War: Fantasy Skirmish.

The Orcs Pledge - Hobday & Hicks

The Orcs Collection // Hobday & Hicks

There are also some "big guys" for each faction with the Orcs getting a Troll and the Elves getting an Air Elemental. It will be neat to see how these fit into your games as The Barons' War didn't have anything quite as big in it.

As well as this preview of what's coming up for both sides, we also got a look at some more miniatures. The Mountain Orc Champions could form the retinue of your lord or be added in amongst other units/regiments to lead the way and bash fellow Orcs into shape.

Hobday & Hicks have continued to do superb work on this range of miniatures and I could see them being used for The Barons' War: Fantasy Skirmish but also Oathmark, Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game and Dragon Rampant to name just three additional games.

Keep an eye out for that August Kickstarter date. Hobday & Hicks are aiming for 21st August so mark that in your calendars!

Will you be checking out these new Fantasy miniatures and the associated game?
