Head Down Into Hive Secundus With Necromunda Expansion
July 15, 2024 by brennon
Games Workshop will be heading deep into the bowels of Hive Secundus with a new expansion for Necromunda. The new boxed set will be available to pre-order soon featuring brand new miniatures.

The new Hive Secundus expansion comes with eight of the Van Saar Teck-hunters alongside two Orrus Spyre Hunters and the Caryatid Prime who are tasking themselves with the hunting of Genestealers.
Van Saar Tek-hunters // Necromunda
The Tek-hunters are looking to try and get their hands on as much lost technology as possible (or indeed anything that catches their eye!). The Orrus Spyre Hunters are there to show off their stylish battlesuits and take some heads. These hunters are often bored nobles and thrillseekers who have decided to test themselves against brutal foes in the Underhive and now in Hive Secundus.
They are going up against a terrible experiment that got out of hand and the Malstrain Brood.
Malstrain Brood // Necromunda
The Malstrain Brood are Genestealers who have gone a little bit wrong (wronger?). There are six of the Malstrain Genestealers, four Malstrain Tyramites, the Brood Scum and the Brood Mind. These are some spectacular takes on the Genestealer, corrupted and warped by the experiments of a maddened scientist.
The set also comes with Bulkhead Terrain (which seems a bit lacking) as well as a paper playing surface to represent the Underhells. There is also the Hive Secundus Rulebook which contains a specific campaign for the Underhells where the Secundan Incursion Gangs find themselves battling in the dark against the Malstrain.
Hive Secundus Rulebook // Necromunda
Hive Secundus seems like a good game of Necromunda in a box as you also get the Archeo-loot cards, Territory cards, fighter cards alongside tokens, rules, templates, rules references and sixteen Necromunda dice. I quite like the "dungeon crawl" theme of Hive Secundus and from the other previews we've seen, there are plenty of fun additional characters coming soon too.
New Necromunda Terrain
As well as the new boxed set, you will also be able to get some new terrain including the Hive Data Stack Cluster.
Hive Data Stack Cluster // Necromunda
These Stack Clusters store data from an age of enlightenment and are the main target of Van Saar. Stick a few of these on the tabletop as objectives. They even come with additional storage alcoves and removable data crystal stacks so you can add to the thematic nature of your games.
The Ruined Zone Mortalis sets then give you some additional thematic terrain for your games showcasing the brutal results of Hive Secundus' downfall.
Ruined Zone Mortalis // Necromunda
This set would be good for those playing Necromunda of course but it would also be great for some Boarding Action games, regular Warhammer 40,000 and beyond. I particularly like the broken access points where some terrible Malstrain Genestealer has obviously ripped its way free of the quarantine and is now hunting for prey.
All of these releases and more will be available to pre-order this weekend...

Actually tempted by this. Damnit GW!
do you need an extra rulebook to play in 3D? 😉
You need at least two, one for each dimension.
Really like to get box and make a GSC army that is gone a bid mad.
Another box that will end up on my Mountain of Shame!
Shame about the board/scenery, which honestly looks pretty naff but I do like the look of the new “gangs”
I think the scenery bits will be useful, but not on the board. They’re a launching point, nothing more. On the Necromunda terrain tiles, probably will look grand.
Necromunda as a game is just that bit too involved for me, but the Zone Mortalis terrain is great so having this expansion to it is what I am looking forward too.
Sounds great, I have a Delaque gang, but haven’t played in a while – I hope we get some new goodies, @super mario 64
