Westfalia Share More Heroes Ahead Of Wintery Northern Kickstarter
June 17, 2016 by brennon
Westfalia Fantasy Battles have shown off some more previews ahead of their Kickstarter for the Northern Mercenaries. We have two models to drool over starting with the Female Mage in Winter Coat...
She looks like she could be a dangerous foe to face, drinking blood from the edge of her knife, while she could also make quite the fun anti-hero to have alongside you.
I love what they're doing with the models where they have this fantastic Barbarian feel to them. The stitched coat, the big boots, and the flowing/shaved hair - all of it works very nicely together to create a great character.
A Windswept Adventurer
Following along from her we also had this adventurer who looks like they're struggling along through the snow on the side of a mountain.
A great model which has plenty of character to it. Once again there has been a lot of detail worked into the cloak and the sense of motion that we keep looking for in models these days. I love the sword design too!
What do you think?

I like the movement in the second miniature. Winter bikini mage… not so much. Still waiting for my paint queue to go down so I can order a bucket of their halflings.
My thoughts exactly @cpauls1 – really like the windswept adventurer: really characterful. The bikini mage in winter coat… Yeah, I think I’ll pass on that one.
I think they are both great. Funny first thing that struck me about the Mage wasn’t the bikini but her blade and blood flowing from it ready for her to devour. Sorry that is twisted and fits in great with a nice dungeon crawler level or an NPC for an rpg. If all you saw was a scantily clad female then you are really missing out on what else was being offered.
I’m sorry that @angelicdespot and I don’t have your keen powers of observation @warwolf . Whatever were we thinking?
I also don’t care for the drop of blood the size of a kiwi. If I were inclined to buy that model that would be pared off immediately and replaced by a strand of superglue that would run down to her mouth.
@Warwolf: Thanks – that exactly was out intention. Also – all our fighters / Adventurers have the right garb for the job. I feel that this lush Madame does too. Especially if she’s with her acolyte.
@shrumpkopf love the pose and sculpt for the acolyte will have to keep an eye out for this Kickstarter.
@schrumpfkopf the model’s nice, but don’t try tell me a Mage needs to half naked to cast spells. That’s complete crap. If it’s cold enough to need that winter coat, she could probably do with a robe or at least some pants and a tunic.
Good luck with the Kickstarter.
@Avien – To me a mage is a product of pure fantasy, and I am happy to allow the sculptor a lot of freedom with his design.
That, and I was honestly surprised about the very progressive and refreshing amount of criticism, especially since this is NOT a fighter girl with chain mail bikini and string tanga / i.E. somebody who’s survival depends on covering vital spots with metal.
This is fantasy not warfare simulation and what people like and look for in miniatures will be different for all. I like my realistically armoured minis and I also love my pinups. Nothing annoys me more when someone can’t just let people enjoy one area of their hobby without losing their crap because oh my god there is some skin showing. No issue with a blood sacrifice being depicted but sure enough someone has to have an issue with her dressing skimpy. Ever notice in the colder climates people dressing inappropriately in relation to the weather. Ever think that she… Read more »
Critique the miniature but don’t turn it into a moral issue or think your entitled to some grand explanation for the attire of a figure.
Oh dear @warwolf . I can see you’ve just arrived. We’re obviously indebted to you for your superior powers of observation, and your infallible moral compass. Are you any less responsible for turning this into a frothing moral issue? If you want to give this figure a prominent place in your bedside curio and fap away, by all means do so, but others should be allowed to state their views while you are otherwise engaged. As for the mage mini, I’m also not good with the loincloth dragging on the ground, which you obviously noticed. Just not my kind of… Read more »
