Hero Forge Custom Mini Platform Launches Online!
December 9, 2014 by brennon
We mentioned them not long ago and now they've launched online. Hero Forge have got their program up and running that allows you to craft your own tabletop heroes for Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Western and more. Check out a few of the ones I've made...
As you can see I've gone with a very fantasy theme but there is a lot you can try out and I urge you to give it a go. After you've made your various heroes you can also then save them and choose a variety of different print methods. These stretch from a basic one that isn't very good for painting all the way up to a sculpture that you'll have on the mantlepiece.
The program looks like it is robust enough to handle a lot more combinations and while occasionally you find a few issues with things clipping through other items it's pretty great.
Give it a go!
Whew! There goes half a day right there! It will be interesting to see how the on screen model translates to the printed product because some of the poses distort the detail quite badly. That said, it’s just as easy to create a very cool looking model.. or ten.
Gulp.
This is going to get expensive..
Goy bored after waiting half a day for the page to load lol
Page wouldnt load for me at all, kept asking me to dowlnoad add ons …no thanks
How strange. It could be a browser issue. In Chrome the page loads immediately for me, but I just tried IE and that circle seems intent on spinning forever..
Loaded fine for me first time as well. Alas that it’s not working for some 🙁
It was a hassle with Chrome for me, but it decided to play at second time of asking
Its asking about something called WebGL, no idea what it is and what it does, the laptop I use is fragile enough as it is without maybe adding to the fragility
I got that endless spinning thing. God only knows what it was trying to do to my machine.
Worked well for me.
I like that you can make robots.
I just had a go at it and it is a pretty fun piece of software. I have noticed that some parts don’t quite line up with certain poses. I wish they would give you some kind of scaling reference because you can change the height of your figure but it is unclear exactly what their height is. Cost seems a little steep at $25US per figure if you want a material that will take paint well.
Just tried to make an unmasked version of Tali from Mass Effect: https://www.heroforge.com/load_config=30520 I think it turned out rather well.
There’s a lot of interesting pieces, but at the same time several major things missing from the options. Backpacks of various kinds, not to mention wings and other things that seem like they’d be of use for pretty much every type of thing. Their robot body might be interesting to split up parts that could be used to replace arms or legs without changing the entire thing. While they added a lot of samurai armor and even a sheathed katana, they don’t have the actual Daisho option or a back banner. Throwing stars for ninjas, a more standard type of… Read more »
