GW Look Towards New Armies Of The Hobbit Book For Middle-earth SBG
October 30, 2018 by brennon
Games Workshop is looking towards a new "Armies Of..." book for use with the Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game. With this new book, they are exploring the forces that appear in The Hobbit.
Inside the book you will find similar lists to those that you found within the Armies Of The Lord Of The Rings, focusing in on the mighty Dwarven throng of Thorin Oakenshield and Dain Ironfoot as well as Azog and his Orc horde that poured forth from Dol Guldur.
Most of these miniatures were available through Forge World, and the armies are a lot more specialised for both hobbyists and gamers.
It will be fun to see if they expand this range and potentially move some of the models into plastic rather than resin and Finecast in order to make them more appealing to those getting into the game.
Old Miniatures Reforged
One of the big things about the range is that so many of the miniatures need to be brought back to the fore! Well, thankfully the folks at Games Workshop have released what's going to be on the store very soon.
The list contains some of the following characters...
Elladan & Elrohir (Foot & Mounted), Haldir, Armoured Glorfindel, Erestor, Faramir & Damrod, Cirion & Madril, Durin & Mardin
...and a few more blister packs too. It looks like it's going to be a fascinating chance to get stuck into the likes of Elves and Dwarves once more, building on those forces that are more on the fringe of the goings on in Middle-earth during the War Of The Ring.
What do you think?

Those two miniatures look really good and it’s nice to see that they are bringing some armies from The Hobbit.
Are the Elladan and Elrohir that are coming back the original ‘monkey twins’ version, or the armoured versions that came out later?
I believe from what I saw elsewhere (sorry but have forgotten where) they are the armoured versions … if I was interpreting which model was which correctly
It could be good having area’s that never featured in the book’s coming into the lore ?
Can’t wait for this, late last year I fell in love with the game all over again. It’s great to see the old blisters remade as I missed some of them the first time.
Any idea when this will be up for pre-order?
