Footsore Miniatures & Games and Warhost have now released their new Mini-Campaign for The Barons' WarGutted At Gaillard is a set of three scenarios playing out a clash between two rivals Barons during the Medieval period.

Gutted At Gaillard Mini-Campaign - The Barons War

Gutted At Gaillard Mini-Campaign // The Barons' War

Here's the fictional excerpt of this Historical clash...

“And so, when rainy spring gave way to summer, Phillipe Augustus launched his assault on his treacherous cousin John, also called Lackland. He began by attacking castles surrounding Chateau Gaillard, thereby depriving the defenders of any immediate relief. Confronted with perhaps the most formidable fortress in Christendom, Phillipe chose to encircle the castle and wait for the garrison to exhaust their supplies. Meanwhile, the perfidious John despatched his most competent commander, William Marshal to relieve the embattled defenders.”

Sample forces are included within the Mini-Campaign allowing you to work out exactly what you need to get started. Throughout the campaign, your warband will grow and change allowing you to slowly but surely expand your collection. You can also pick up the two main characters for this particular clash (see below!).

Guillaume II des Barres - The Barons War

Guillaume II des Barres // The Barons' War

The first of the scenarios is called Knives In The Dark where those mounting the siege are vulnerable to attack in their own camp. Will you be able to thwart the siege before it even begins? Secondly, we have The Bridge Of Boats where Philip Augustus lashed together boats and a wooden tower to aid their efforts during the siege.

William Marshal - The Barons War APRIl

William Marshal // The Barons' War

Thirdly, things finish off with Throw Them Back. Here, William Marshal's amphibious attack has been mistimed and the attacks are now pouring out over the bridge of boats, looking to force the attackers onto the back foot. This expands things from 500 points up to 1000 points by the end.

There are also profiles included within the mini-campaign for using Cutthroats and Outlaws as part of your campaigns. Additional rules are also introduced for resolve and how that affects the morale of the garrison during the midst of a siege.
