New Guarding The Realm Pack Revealed For Game Of Thrones LCG
January 24, 2017 by brennon
Fantasy Flight Games gave us another look ahead to what's coming in the next cycle of Chapter Packs for A Game Of Thrones: The Card Game. This time we're Guarding The Realm and praying to R'hollr...
The new card pack and indeed this cycle of cards looks to include some new mechanics into the game including Bestow which allows you to transfer gold to characters in order to make them stronger and/or bring other effects into play.
For example, Wex Pyke here (who looks a lot like Keith Richards) allows you to use Gold to change his strength. This means that he could potentially deal with whatever threat you like throughout the game but he will need a considerable investment to make him worthwhile.
A new version of Melisandre popped up too with a rather crazy power. She has the ability, as long as you win Dominance (which isn't hard for Baratheons), to kill characters on a whim.
The game does feel like it's shifting towards more ways to win the game away from challenges. While this certainly opens up tactical options this could be rather crazy; we'll have to see how the meta develops.
Light of the Lord certainly plays into the old way of playing Baratheons too. With ways to keep characters knelt and pay to keep your own characters standing you will be winning dominance easily and ensuring some key challenges.
Are you a Baratheon player looking to stamp their mark on the world of Westeros? Let me know what you think of the new cards.

It’ll be tough to take core Melisandre out of any Baratheon deck, even for a kill effect.
That’s my thought. The new one is obviously amazing, but the Core one is the centerpiece of most Baratheon decks.
Those do look really good. That Melisandre is a beast.
