Grundstok Gunners & Their Gunhauler Join The Kharadron Of Age Of Sigmar
April 24, 2017 by brennon
Games Workshop revealed more of their Kharadron Overlords range for use in the world of Age of Sigmar. Leading the way this time we have another flying machine in the shape of the Grundstok Gunhauler...
This is a smaller and agiler craft that floats between the larger ships in your armada. They are armed with an array of guns as well as bombs which can be dropped on the enemy below. Whilst your larger ships might be the target for all manner of nonsense from the enemy they may underestimate these little ships!
Thunder Sounds
Taking the name of the unit of old from the Old World we have the Grundstok Thunderers who, much like with the Gunhauler, are a unit tasked with defending the fleet and able to react to danger at a moment's notice.
Here's a run down of the weapons they can bring to bear...
"...an aetheric fumigator, a Grundstok mortar (with an extra bomb for modelling on the base), an aethercannon (so powerful that the Duardin carrying it needs a blast shield) and a five-barrelled gun known as the Decksweeper."
As always they are encased in their armour to protect them from the rampant magics searing forth from their weapons and surrounding them in the skies above the Mortal Realms.
If you're interested in finding out more about their kit and how they play on the tabletop you can download their PDF Warscrolls over on the links above.
What do you think of these new units?

It won’t be a surprise to many who have seen me post before, but I’ve pre-ordered this …. Started work on my arkonauts ….. resissting the urge to call my Arkonaut captain Jayzon …… (Jayzon and the Atrkonauts …..heh …no no no … dwarfs are a serious business , shelve your tomfoolery boy)…… I love this army so much … *sigh
Don’t forget to call the Drillbill ‘Bubo’ 😉
Heh 😉
You have to call him Jayzon now.
This army is very tempting but I have too many projects on the go and on the waiting list. Really love the shooty guys though.
More nice stuff for these guys. As I said on the Weekender the Kharadron Overlords are the first release for AoS that’s really interested me and is the first one to tempt me to give it another go (played a couple of games back when AoS first dropped and never bothered with it after that or even really had the inclination to have another game of it). As I’ve also said before I really fancy getting some of these to mix with Mantic’s Forgefathers to do an army that can be KO for AoS, Chaos Squats for 40k (if I… Read more »
That is a fascinating concept. Would you care to elaborate on the converting ideas a bit or is this in a first idea phase?
Just a vague initial plan atm. Before I can really do any firm planning I really need to get ahold of the KO book and the Warpath rules to work out what I need to get and what can count as what.
Fingers crossed I’ll win the Warpath giveaway from the last Weekender XD
At the very least I’ll be adding tall(ish) hats to them all – ’cause a Chaos Dwarf just isn’t a true Dawi without his hat Hashutdamnit!
😉
Has anyone seen at least one Kharadron with a peg leg?
Considering their whole shtick of sailing through clouds, I’m very disappointed in the lack of peg legged dwarfs here…
That’d be so cool ….There is one with a “mechanical Parrot” imagine him modded
One dwarf in one of the sets has a mechanical/bionic/clockwork/etc style leg. If you want more with prosthetic limbs it’d be an easy conversion to do a simple peg leg.
And there’s one of the characters who has a mechanical exoskeleton thingy.
they look to modern I think.
Assume you mean technologically too fancy (for fantasy dwarves, for at the least the old WHFB etc.) or s.th. along those lines, and in the case I very much agree.
Diclaimer:
For my taste and the aspects of WH I fancied anyway. And, yes, indeed the new(er) AoS ways are not my cup of tea and this has to be taken into account. I.e. I’m not considering them in regard to AoS but concerning the acpects mentioned above and in general (naturally influenced by my personal preferences; claiming otherwise would be pretentious and obviously not true)
