Looking to try your hands at a different style of painting? The Wyrd Games painting competitions are always a hoot. Brining all painters into the limelight with the City Nights Painting Contest.

By stepping into the limelight, I mean that your pesky little Gremlins now have their chance to shine brightly under the shady lampost! Brings a whole challenge that is based on Object Source Lighting. That means focusing on how the light source will be affecting your model's stance and position, filling out light and shadows to create further atmosphere.
"After being pelted by the sweltering summer heat, the relentless sun finally begins to set. Soon, beneath the glistening moonlight, the city comes alive. Streets glow from lanterns and hung torches. Taverns with fresh ale welcome you in with both candlelight and faint neon magic. And even the darkest of alleyways flicker with well-lit cigars and glowing eyes. Even in the night, the darkness is kept at bay." - Wyrd Games
There are two categories to get involved in, with several prizes to be won which include cash credit to the Wyrd Store. Categories include a Single Model and Over Achiever, returning for those who paint to a professional standard.
This really is a wonderful idea for a competition. Although the previous competitions are fantastic, they truly explore the painter's imagination and placement of the different accessories and factors surrounding the miniature. However, this summer's competition focusing on a light source really encourages painters to hone in on a skill. Whether you have tried painting and considering Object Source Lighting (OSL), or have never given it a go; the competition works as a great way to get creative!
You have got until August 18th to submit your entry, so be sure to head over to the Wyrd forum to follow their instructions to enter. The competition has already started, so you've got less than a month to put your paintbrush to some creativity with Wyrd.
Neon lights would be incredible for this, certainly if you were looking to paint up your Nightmare Edition Mei Feng set! How would you incorporate Object Source Lighting to your miniature for this competition?

Thinking about it, all the special effects for undead in the Ten Thunders would be amazing, though I think bringing out the reflected light on metallics for all the MSU would be interesting. It’d finally be a way for some of the humble grunts to look like more than the Great Unwashed Masses
Will be great to see the figures for this contest good luck folks.
