Gen Con Broke Records Again This Year!
August 4, 2015 by deltagamegirl22
Just in case you needed some hard numbers to put the size of Gen Con into perspective, Gen Con 2015 has set an all-new attendance record with a unique attendance of 61,423 and a turnstile attendance of 197,695! Since 2010, Gen Con has more than doubled in attendance!
The convention featured more than 400 companies in the vendor hall! That is a MASSIVE amount of games and game related shiny things! No wonder I'm so tired!
And yes, the convention is a profitable endeavor, but they are also very generous with a number of fundraising activities for charity. This year, Gen Con's raised $38,500 for the Julian Center, an organization dedicated to prevention and support for those effected by domestic violence.
It's nice to see a direct benefit for the community from such an awesome convention.
Will you be planning to be part of the record breaking trends in Gen Con's attendance next year?

More hoping, wishing, and praying than planning lol. If I can do it, I’m not looking forward to the hotel booking system. It was bad enough last year.
It’s interesting to see that their attendance figure rises since 2009 have pretty much mirrored the rise in hobby store sales over the same period (as tracked by ICv2). GenCon attendance does seem to be a pretty good barometer of where tabletop gaming is in the US.
61423… that’s an impressive number of nerds gathered in one place.
Wonder if the is still called a mod @Lloyd?
It was impressive. Most impressive. 😉
And the BoW coverage topped it self as well
Hope to be there and see what the fuzz is all about
Thanks @rasmus! We hope to see you there next year too! Are you all settled in the states?
I’m the balding fat guy in the back.
