GW Bring Back Classic Middle-earth Miniatures In 2022
December 20, 2021 by brennon
Games Workshop is looking to celebrate twenty years of Peter Jackson's The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring with the release of some classic miniatures in the early portion of 2022.

A selection of classic packs are going to be available via their Made-To-Order service in January. This would enable you to play through those epic first encounters with Ringwraiths, Balrogs and the Uruk-Hai that we saw on screen as part of The Fellowship Of The Ring.
Whilst I now have most of the elements of Attack At Weathertop (above), I am very tempted to pick it up just for the alternative version of Aragorn! Only kidding, I'm not that mad...
As well as the adventures of Strider and the Hobbits, we also have the Escape From Orthanc set which features Gwahir coming to save Gandalf from the clutches of Saruman.

A neat little set with some very characterful miniatures. I was lucky enough to get my hands on a couple of the miniatures from this set and they were exceedingly fun to paint. I even played the Wizard's Duel game a bit too!
The full, original Fellowship set is also going to be available for you to snap up. I really liked the miniatures in this set for, well, everyone and my set has been repainted so many times.

The Gandalf miniature in particular is iconic. I do like the more animated look to the sculpts in the new plastic set but there is something particularly nice about this old metal kit. They managed to capture the look of the actors and their characters exceptionally well.
The epic clash between the Balrog and Gandalf on The Battle At Khazad-dum is also going to be up for grabs.

If you're looking to play out every scenario from The Lord Of The Rings then you're going to need this in the mix. Prepare your breakable stone (foam) bridge and shout "you shall not pass!" at the top of your voice.
The last of the sets they have mentioned adding to the Made-To-Order collection is the Ambush At Amon Hen.

This comes with a couple of awesome versions of the Three Hunters alongside poor Merry and Pippin getting carried away. You've also got that fateful moment as Boromir is cut down by Lurtz and his cruel bow.
A nice selection of miniatures I think you'll agree to celebrate twenty years of The Fellowship Of The Ring.
Are you going to be picking these up when they hit their webstore?

Ooh nice but I think many people (Ben) will be fuming after shelling out for figures from the eBay scalpers.
eBay prices for a lot of the Middle-earth stuff are usually pretty reasonable. Well, for most of it heh.
Lol no body parts were harmed in the making of your last purchase?
Ah more re-releases.
I am very tempted by these.
After seeing @brennon recent efforts, i went foraging in the attic at my parents house, and found my original ‘Attack at Weathertop’ box, which i never painted and inside i also found my unpainted Bilbo miniature which was a lovely find, but perhaps less nice, there was a copy of the original GW LOTR ‘Pre-order Flyer’ with full price list.
I anticipate being horrified at how much the prices have gone up in 20 years, but regardless, i will probably still buy them.
