GameMat.Eu Takes Cover Behind A Derelict Grav-Train
October 24, 2018 by brennon
GameMat.Eu has been showing off one of their new terrain pieces that works well with the Necropolis Set that was released not long ago. Here we have the Grav-Train...
Here's some of the background which will hopefully give you an idea of how this mixes into the Necropolis range. I keep seeing it as one of those Genestealer Cult vehicles from Warhammer 40.000 or the big train that your Space Marines fight over in the video game!
This is a big chunky piece of terrain which would be great for line-of-sight blocking.
You could clamber up on top of these vehicles and get a good vantage point for shooting too.
Will you be snapping this up for yourself?

Honestly … the first pic looked like a silver batmobile (from the cartoon) lol .. doesn’t do anything for me imho. meh.
It’s a big angular, but that’s good for balancing miniatures.
Gamemat does good stuff, but more expensive than I can afford.
That is good looking train.
Think it could do with carriages/cargo sleds to pull and tracks to put it on.
Lordofuzlahkula is right it needs some rolling stock or carriages to make it complete. It would be fun to set up a derailment scenario.
It also needs a different finish to separate it from the industrial floor plating appearance of the Necropolis buildings.
Agreed, particularly about the paint scheme
ooh nice.
Too much block and too little actual train for me.
It certainly is not the Heavy Metal Hero: https://www.rodneymatthewsstudios.com/products/the-heavy-metal-hero-open
I get that the GameMat.Eu stuff is great for those who really don’t have the time or just aren’t confident to build terrain. That’s fair enough.
But I’m just going to say it 😉 This isn’t good and even less so when I saw the price. Their more feature terrain pieces are very hit and miss. I comparison to GF9 who after a lot of trial and error got there GameMat.Eu just doesn’t do it for me. If it works for people though then its great as a bit of ready terrain on the field is always better than nothing.
That looks perfect for 40k and fits very nicely with the train described by Dan Abnett in the Eisenhorn stories. It Could probably do with some carriages or trucks behind it and personally I would like to see a track to go with it, it kind of looks a bit weird just sat on its own. But it’s a good looking model, even if the silver colour scheme lets in down a bit; I would be more likely to go with a colour rather than a raw metal.
Need!
