Gale Force Nine shared some more previews of the new Battlefield In A Box terrain which is coming very soon. If you're building up a Fantasy tabletop then you might find yourself battling in their Wartorn Village.

Wartorn Village Ruins - Gale Force Nine

War is unforgiving and will often find its way to the doorsteps of ordinary folk. These Ruins show the shell of a building which perhaps once stood on peaceful farmland. Now it is a gutted ruin, a perfect place for ambushes and bandits to lie in wait as they watch out for wandering merchants and patrols.

Maybe your town has been ransacked but you're now trying in vain to hold back a tide of undead spilling forth from the woodlands. Well, then you may want to deploy Barricades!

Wartorn Village Barricades - Gale Force Nine

This has been hastily built from what was left of the ruins that your army now takes refuge in. You can also see that they've grabbed everything from the baggage train, or ransacked some houses in order to build it into something at least halfway sturdy.

The markers of civilisations are hard to shift, like these Cobblestone Roads for example. These might end up being good to help delineate where buildings and such should be placed, and of course, they work well with the idea of being ambushed as part of a scenario as we mentioned above.

Last but not least we turn our eye to the Bridge which hops over the nearby river that drifts quietly by our Wartorn Village.

As one of the only secure routes into the village, you'll want to guard this with a band of hardy warriors. I always love bridge battles as they force you to consider not only who you're going to throw into the grind but also who is going to try wading across the river! This matches up very nicely with the road textures as well so you can create a nice dynamic tabletop which moves through different landscapes.

All of the Battlefield In A Box range is pre-painted and ready to go save a little bit of flocking on the base of some of the structures and such. It's great for those who are running clubs and stores, and with just a few sets you can build a good 3x3 skirmishing table, perfect for the kinds of games people are playing nowadays.

What do you make of the new sets?
