Gaddis Gaming Order Your Tabletop With Table Topper Kickstarter
May 12, 2015 by brennon
Gaddis Gaming are on Kickstarter with a pretty neat idea that might be cool for ordering your tabletop gaming and using with a range of mats available on the market. See what you think of their Table Toppers...
Turn The Tables
The idea of the Table Toppers is that they give you a 3x3x1 gaming arena flanked by pits for your dice and cards keeping them away from the main tabletop gaming space. As you can see in the image above and those below they work well for a range of different games that utilise lots of cards and tokens.
When used with a number of different companies gaming mats this seems like it comes together to make a really nice play area for your smaller level skirmish games and dog fighting games too. For example Deep Cut Studios make a nice range of gaming mats in 3x3 that would be perfect for this and playing games of Malifaux.
The one thing that might be prohibitive is that the actual entry price for one of these is fairly high. We don't normally talk about price on Beasts of War since it's all very relative but that might be the reason that something like this hasn't taken off quite as well as it could have done.
I could see these being great for us to use at Boot Camps though!
What do you think of the idea?

Looks great, would have easily got one if it was 4×4 or even 6×4
This is where you tell your kid to take woodshop.
Yeah, price is excessive and something you could easily make yourself with bits from B&Q.
3×3 seems a bit pointless
I think the comments about the price are accurate for this version, but it sounds like they are working towards refining this idea. I hope the succeed and continue on with 2.0 and 3.0 versions of this product. I think if they manage to make a very durable, yet light weight version of this in hard plastic/fiberglass/whatever … they obviously need to do some work there … they could maybe improve upon the DIY options. Right now I make my own version of this thing, but as is mentioned in their kickstarter video … that becomes furniture. I have a… Read more »
Thank you so much for your insight , we are looking for feedback on what version 2.0 and 3.0 will need based on what gamers WANT. I hope others look at the FAQ and get more informed on what we are trying to.
Sincerely
Lee
Interesting idea pointless design, because games played in 3×3 don’t really need it and a bit on the expensive side.
But hey this is why kickstarter really exist, money is nice, but direct feedback with the consumer market is were the gold is for the companies, many found their target market to be not where they thought it was.
hmm i can get a hell lot of wood for 299$ and that is not including shipping across the pond to Europe. Bendy boards can do the same and is cheaper and transportable..
i agree the problem here is on the dimensions chosen….
not really many games that use a 3×3
at least 4×4 is needed for infinity and 6×4 is THE standard!
the problem is my table is slightly smaller than 4′ (and way over 6′) so an hard wargaming table that exceeds the edge of about 2″ per side is ok…..
i think it could be more interesting having an edge that gives me the option to play right on the floor… it should be collapsable though
you wouldn’t want to play infinity on a non secured surface anyway with metal minis on tall buildings. This is prepainted gridlocked territory.
Not to mention your ground floor LOF is bust.
Yeah, $300 for a adjustable table.. that expands from 3×3 to 4×6 with telescoping edges and all the card holders and dice cups and heck, for that price, an electronic VP, focus/fury/soulstone, and turn # tracker built in would be something I’d see selling.. but just a set frame does seem awfully expensive to me.
Unfortunately, I have to agree. Nice idea, cost prohibitive and size should different.
I can see where he’s coming from, americans usually wargame on mats more than anything. We over here have a tradition of making our wargaming the centerpiece of a home making ‘scratching the table’ quite moot as it is the table more often than not. This is also kind of midrangy which is fine, I think he would kill it going by way of boardgamegeek. Having a giant lightweight tabletop to just set onto the bed would really knock down a lot of speed-bumping related to getting your amateur game night on be it monopoly, magic or malifaux.
Hmmm – a solution that doesn’t appear to provide enough of a value proposition for most.
This is what real Kickstarter projects are for: to give entrepreneurs a chance to get some honest feedback about their product, go back to the drawing board and re-address the model (starting with your customers and value proposition – don’t start with ‘product and price’)
I would first Like to say thank you all for your feedback on this idea. Rest assured that this is not the only product we are working on but we had to start somewhere and getting it in front of you so that I could get that feedback was why we are doing the kickstarter , I can’t work in a vacuum and need your thoughts and ideas on what you want AND are willing to pay for. Realize that this is built in America and we pay a living wage it would be cheaper if we mass produced it… Read more »
I think if anything you should look into making the rewards somewhat related to the main product. As it stands it feels a bit scattered, as I can’t orientate on BGG I don’t know if you’ve pitched it there, but you should as it’s right at home with the boardgamers (I can see it on a team bus or trainride to a tournament). And as you might have figured out by the feedback on here wargames tend to get expansive. Try giving a more in-depth explanation to why/how you came to the conclusion of carfoam(I’m guessing it’s injection molded?) besides… Read more »
Not sure if I’m missing something but the actual tabletopers are stated as “Ships only to United States”if this is so, not sure you could get one for boot camps?
Nice idea and I actually quite like them. But as otheres have said. To expensive and pointless at that size.
Easy fixed – your internal playing are can be partitioned! Mine is that size because it was designed for Force-on-Force in 20mm. However, it wouldn’t cost that much to make it bigger (say 6’x5′) in two sections for storage and partitionable. You can use expensive materials, but mdf and a bit of paint are so cheap. Find a back-street wood shop and your off…
Cool idea, I’d love one for X-wing and Star Wars Armada, but 200 quid is a lot of money for an accessory. Also Lloyd must be rubbing off on me because I visibly cringed when I scrolled past that Bolt Action Board…
We built a 46″x46″ gaming table inside something like that – so we can play without all the crap you use going everywhere. Guy at the wood shop I use pre-cut all the bits for me (three-quaters mdf) cost me £14.
