Have Fun With Trolls In New Frostgrave Scenario
July 25, 2015 by brennon
The creator of Frostgrave has put together a new scenario for use with the game when you want to have a bit of fun and teach those Wizards who are higher level than you a lesson. See what you think of it HERE and then head over to the North Star website to grab the required models...
I think every Fantasy skirmish game I have ever played has had some kind of Troll Hunt quest in it but this has one a bit of a twist. Instead of your parties hunting the trolls the angry beasts are looking for the Wizard who was responsible for destroying some of their precious loot!
I think the scenario sounds like a lot of fun and a nice equaliser for the game as well as giving the chance for the higher level Wizard to blast some trolls apart with his or her spells.
Have any of you played Frostgrave?

need to have a look at this, sounds very cool
Shame they look like something 80s he-man would battle 😉
Yeah im not getting the minis, the rules however .. have a fair amount of usable fantasy guys perfect for this 🙂
I like the old school vibe. It reminds me gaming in my teens… That and I’m an Old Fogey. 😉
The trolls look like old grenadier orcs a bit, its definatly fun to see people still sculpt in the style. Find it hard to buy the stuff now though, especially since i have lots of everything 🙂
Likewise @hatamoto. It’s getting harder and harder to justify a minis purchase! I’ve got rubbermaids of stuff waiting for paint. The trolls remind me of Otherworld’s line of retro figures drawn from the AD&D monster books.
Having said all that, I’ll definitely be buying a box of the militia guys. They look fabulous.
Trolls, and they look the part
After reading some reviews this was a definate buy
Nice looking trolls.
Those are really nice looking trolls.
This is a neat scenario. I am thrilled they are supporting the game this way. It keeps things fresh.
Planning on getting a couple of games in before we get a campaign going. I also have a couple of these ice trolls they are Copplestone castings yetis. It looks like I had better get some more on order.
Sooo jealous lol. Have you started on your revenants yet, @huscarle ?
Ashamed to say no not yet but frostgrave would be another good reason to get my arse in gear. So much to do I think at the moment retirement would be the only solution to getting the time I need.
is that them morelock? things from (time machine) Conan is fighting?
Quite the ninties vibe. I dont find the minis that good. Where is the positive reception for Frostgrave coming from ?
Positive reception?
People seem to be liking it for a several reasons :
– Persistent character with campaign rules, experience and progression.
– Low model count.
– The ability to use third party miniatures. All those random fantasy miniatures that you’ve had sitting around for years? This is the game for them!
– It scratches people’s Mordheim /Necromunda itch.
I just bought the book yesterday and I’m already planning on playing a Necromancer and using undead minis as henchmen. It’s going to be so cool!
There can’t be many wargamers who don’t have an abundance of suitable figures for this rule set. I wouldn’t class my self as a big fantasy gamer but I can’t believe how I had the foresight to buy so much lead and resin just in case a game like this came along.
lol. You’re right @huscarle . I wouldn’t need to buy a single figure to play this 🙂 . But I still want the militia box set.
Lol, they look awful. Even the sigmarines look better.
I wouldn’t go that far 🙂 They are pretty old sculpts
