New French Translation Of Vampire: The Requiem Coming From Ulule
September 20, 2015 by brennon
Our very own Romain was very excited by this one. Over on the French fundraising platform known as Ulule there is another version of Vampire: The Requiem in the works that is more streamlined and perfect for French audiences.
Vampire The Requiem has always been a bit of an odd duck amongst the other World of Darkness games due the nature of how Vampires interact with each other. Despite that though it is probably their most successful of the role-playing systems.
This current campaign is looking to create a fantastic new version of the rulebook, a second edition, as well as a limited edition copy of the book and more.
As well as the books they are working on getting the Storytellers Screen made as an additional reward and, if they get the funding, looking ahead to covering more supplements in the future.
One of the minds behind this is Tristan Lhomme who is a well known RPG writer and translator and he's backed up by the team that bought us the rather great Shadows Of Esteren RPG.
Did you ever play Vampire?

I’ll add that this will be teh first time teh storyteller’s screen is published as something other than a pdf. A pdf is really awkward for a GM screen, but for some reason it never got a physical edition in english !
You mean never got a physical version for the 2nd ed. I still have my ST screen for 1st ed.
Why do you correct me ? Enough has been changed that VtR 1.0 is a completely different game.
Because it gives the wrong impression, especially if people want to remain playing 1st ed and want the ST screen for that game – which was actually produced.
That’s not true… it’s currently still available on Amazon even. (the hardcover ST screen)
For first edition Requiem that is. The tables and rules that product uses is somewhat changed for 2nd ed.
*sigh*… People don’t read, people don’t think, and then people say “that’s not true” as if i’m wrong or a liar. O, the milk of human kindness.
It’s the second edition. A LOT has changed. Even though many say some of the old content is still compatible, it’s really underpowered and leads to weirdness if you use it with v2.0. It warrants a new screen.
Well so much for beast of war kindness.. why the hostility?
You said a screen wasn’t made, that was incorrect. You could have simply explained what you meant without getting confrontational.
I’ll be leaving this conversation. I come here for fun, not to be yelled at.
I’m sorry if you felt hostility… I felt very much distrusted and antagonized : no sooner had I pointed something (true) out, that two people who did not know better than I went out of their way to correct me. I assumed (but that may have been a silly assumtion) that people would trust me, or simply think of VtR 2.0 instead of assuming it’s the same as VtR 1.0… Perhaps even go and read about the game’s GM screen to see if what they know is true. Really, I should have known. This behavior is all over facebook already… Read more »
@elromanozo in your initial comment you do say “storyteller’s screen is published as something other than a pdf”. Which is true only of this edition. It seemed like a matter of fact statement that OPP has never done screens in the past (for some people remember, there are those who have a hard time even making a distinction between Requiem and Masquerade!). I think if that was appended it would have negated @shadowbreed ‘s comments entirely. And as I have added, other games OPP has kickstarted have had ST screens, because the printing of those games was done as deluxe… Read more »
So, I hear that there was a physical storytellers screen in first ed but only a PDF one in 2nd ed. Is that true?….
Correct. For English at least, there was a 1st ed screen, and there is currently no 2nd ed screen. That may well change in future. I will have to probe and ask some of the Onyx Path guys directly. More than likely the limitation is with what is possible with current Print On Demand delivery systems. Things are improving, given the next NWoD game is being handled by Drivethrurpg for the deluxe print run.
@doctorether – What do you mean with ‘ the new Beast game is being handled by DTRPG, even for the more deluxe printing’? All the print on demand versions are handled by DTRPG. The prestige edition, via kickstarter, will be done by traditional printers. At least, that’s what is mentioned on the kickstarter.
